Recent file history missing on app launch
Since updating to the latest version, on starting Illustrator I just get the "start a new file fast" section but no recent file history icons.
Once I've opened and then closed a file the app returns to the home screen and then my recent history is showing but the Start A New File Fast bit has gone.
Once I close illustrator down and re-open it the history disappears again :(
Using Illustrator v24 via a Creative Cloud Suite account on Windows 10. I've tried uninstalling, rebooting and re-installing. No change.

When a crash happens, the Recent Files lists get reset to the state they had on launch

hey, the problem is here again... I use v25.4.1 on Win10, and recent files are not shown on the home screen, only the stupid and useless suggestions (which cannot be hidden of course).
Any new solution?

Same problem here (v24.1.1 on Windows PC). Recent documents are shown on the Home screen after creating a new document and closing it without saving.

This JUST happened to me. Up until now it's been working just fine. I did not update or make any change except turn off "Object Selection by Path Only," which should not have affected anything. I had opened Illustrator, selected the file that I wanted to work on from the Home screen as normal, and worked a while. I thought something was glitching (this was a few hours later) so I closed Illustrator and reopened it immediately ---- OUT OF THE BLUE, NO RECENT ITEMS IN START SCREEN!
From another forum this has been an ongoing problem for two years at least. There's a workaround, but it's ridiculous to have to work around something like this:
Window > Workspace > select any workspace. Then click the "Home" icon to the left of File.
This is annoying af!

I have the same problem. Illustrator 24.0.3 Mac High Sierra 10.13.6. No recent files on start-up screen.
I have reset all preferences, activated, deactivated compatible GPU... and nothing. Look the picture. Any idea? -

Had the same problem for some weeks running Illustrator cc 24.0.1 on Win10.
Now I installed 24.0.2 just a sec ago the problems are gone.

I have this problem too. This kind of stuff that is so much more frequent is really troubling.

Same here.
I can restore the Recent Files for the current session by unchecking "Show The Home Screen When No Documents Are Open" in Preferences, and then going back and checking it. But once I close and restart Illustrator, the Home Screen returns to showing only "Start a new file fast."

Also having this issue with the latest Illustrator 2020. Very annoying. I swear I saw a thread about it that had been solved, but now I can't find it.
