Illustrator 2021 (Version 25.0.0) crashing when running Variable Importer script
Ever since the update, the program crashes when you either "test" the files before importing the variables or even if you skip this step and directly choose importing the variables, it completely crashes the application. I require this script for my job and have a project due this Friday, October 30th 2020. Please address immediately.
This issue is fixed in AI 25.1 release, available for download from Creative Cloud Desktop.

I'm still having the issue on Mac 25.0.1

I am able to run it successfully on my Windows 10 machine, what's everyone's systems?

Can confirm, I'm on 25.0.1 and still crashes for me.

It worked for me, are you sure you aren't running the older version by any chance?

I have updated to 25.0.1 and it still crashes. For those who are having success, can you explain your method?

Yay, Adobe has FIXED this issue in 25.1!
Thank you. -

I don't want to jinx it, but it now appears to be working fine for me in Illustrator 25.1

Me too

Mine is crashing too. Fixing the script would be ideal, and on a wider note updating the way AI handles data is overdue. AfterEffects and even PremierePro are further ahead (think MOGRTs).

This seems to be an issue that affects Macs, version 2021 and it doesn't matter if it's Catalina or otherwise such as Mojave. Hopefully I can find the root cause of the issue or Adobe mends the 2021 issue before then.

No fix or work-around in 2021 that I have been able to find. So far I've had to re-install Illustrator 2020, and run the script, then open the file back in 2021 and the data sets are in tact and fine, but the script itself can't run in 2021 without crashing.
