File seems to be permanently stuck in isolation mode resulting in many objects being unselectable
Basically was doing a simple school project activated isolation mode and deactivated it quickly while doing this the application became unresponsive and crashed and the recovered file still had this effect persist with only one line selectable It cannot be turned off
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 25.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

I am using Mac OS Catalina (Early 2015 Macbook Pro - specs screenshot attached)
To give some description, I have two boxes of texts that are grouped together that I wanted to isolate and move the text.
I right click -> isolate selected group on the two text boxes, but after trying to double click out of isolation mode and back to normal everything has remained greyed out and unclickable, as if its still in isolation mode but it's showing its not in it anymore (theres no bar at the top to show that its in isolation mode), so the document is basically useless. (video to show what I mean is attached - it doesn't show my clicks or trying to press esc. but I was doing that in the video and nothing happens apart from the ability to select the text box)
I hadn't saved the document at this point so I thought I should save it, restart my computer and open it back up again and it should go back to normal, but it's still the same.
I also noticed when I looked at the preview for the file, that even the preview is showing like that (screenshot attached)
I've put the file with the issue here too.
Thanks

Hi, I have the
same problem, Can you fix it? -

I had exactly the same problem, already three times in different documents since I updated Adobe Illustrator a few days ago. It seems to be a bug in the document itself since the problem doesn’t disappear if somebody else opens it. Even save with a new name or restart the programm doesn’t help. Extremely frustrating.

I right-clicked an item on my artboard and entered isolation mode. Afterward, I double-clicked away and now everything except my previously selected item is stuck in that semi-transparent state even though illustrator tells me I am no longer in isolation mode. I have tried selecting the item and right-clicking to click the exit option but it's not available. I tried closing the document and then re-opening it but it just opened in isolation mode again. This file is basically a throwaway now which is frustrating. I've attached some images showing my issue.

・illustrator2021(25.0)・macOS catalina(10.15.7) iMac

I've been working in Adobe products for over 15 years - know Illustrator like the back of my hand, and this just happened to me. It's 1000% a bug.
I also just went in to isolation mode, and then it seemed to "get stuck" where I couldn't select anything. I saved and rebooted - still nothing. Saw this fix, and... wah-lah, somehow the opacity got stuck at 50% and the layers were separated and locked.

I'm having same issue since last update (Illustrator 25.0 - MacOS 10.14.6)
It nests and dim all layers under a new <layer>.
Many times it freezes and have to quit. -

Same here. I'm having the same issue on both Windows and Mac since I upgraded to Illustrator 2021.
Another problem is that when this happens, Illustrator freezes so I have to force quit. After Illustrator and the file are reopened, the last (damaged) version is saved which means that sometimes a lot of the hard work that was done is gone.
Productivity is affected. Please solve this bug as soon as possible. -
Yeah, Bruno, that is what I experienced too!
Can you provide some detailed steps how to reproduce it? I had to roll back in 2020 for now, so I could not do it. -

Experienced this just now.. Silly bug. To solve, I have saved the file as SVG (or exported it to), and retrieved my assets from this format. I hope this helps you salvage yours.

I've figure out that bug happens while on Isolation mode you perform a lot of "undos". While Adobe doesn't update Illustrator 2021 with proper correction, the only work around is downgrade to Illustrator 2020. Sorry but you lost your academic work. Avoid this new version for a while

Sometimes, after I have entered in Isolation Mode, at the exit of Isolation, or while undoing, the bug creates and collect all other layers that were not isolated on a new rearranged layer with 50% opacity. At this point, undo (command+z) will not make the new layer created by the bug release. It will nest, with 50% transparency, all other layers that were not at the isolation.

Same problem here, got the layers back from isolation mode by selecting all paths with the white arrow and then grouped the object.
