Artwork disappears when zoomed in
Whenever I am zooming in (2400% +), my artwork disappears and the who canvas turns gray. If I mouse over my artwork, i'll see a very pixelated outline of my artwork. I've attached a screenshot of my issue. I've tried restarting my MBP, uninstalling and reinstalling AI. I've tried closing out AI and reopening– but nothing I am doing is fixing this issue. Please help, I need to continue working on client projects.

It doesn't matter what the artboard size is for me.
This issue has to do deal with the 'Intel Graphics 630 1536MB' graphics. Apparently this is integrated graphics and not an actual graphics card. I was recently told, that I need a new MAC.

I just ran into the same issue. Everything was working fine--I was able to zoom into my toolbar images to 3200% with no problems. Then all of a sudden something changed and when I zoom in, the artboard appears gray and if I select an object, I see a distorted outline. Zooming out eventually results in the objects appearing correctly. After checking a lot of things, I realized that I had changed my artboard size to create a toolbar image strip. In my case 1920px x 16px. Previously, I had my artboard set to 16px x 16px. It was the changing of the artboard size that causes the artboard to appear gray. If I reduces the width of the artboard to 200, then I am able to zoom into 3200% without any display issues.

Hi Sandra. Yes, it has an Intel Graphics 630 1536MB. To clarify, the issue that I had was that my GPU Performance checkbox was unchecked. So that is what was causing my pixelated issues. Once I checked that checkbox, it resolved my issue.
If you continue to have issue, I would recommend to reach out to Adobe Support and see if they can help.

Josh, I am just curious, does your computer use Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB?

When working on complex art, unchecking the GPU Performance did not work for me and it created other issues.

Hi All, thanks for the comments and suggestions. I reached out to Adobe Support and found out that my GPU Performance checkbox was unchecked. I had to go to Preferences > Performance then under GPU performance, I needed to check the GPU Performance box, which immediately resolved my issue. Not sure how that box became unchecked, but that is was fixed this issue for me.

The only way I fixed this issue was to install an older version of Illustrator by clicking on the ••• next to open in creative cloud for illustrator.
