Gradient does not show when it is being applied on live text
Sometimes i feel handicapped while working with gradients.
It feels like that Illustrator is holding my leg when working with gradients.
Gradient does not show when it is being applied on live text (not outlined text), making it difficult to see the current gradient direction and placement when mouse is pressed. Gradient shows when mouse is released.

Thanks, this makes more sense.
Indeed, not handy at all when you can’t see how a gradient flows for a text. -

Ashfaque, the text does not vanish for me when I drag over it, but gets filled with the layer’s color (like blue for the first layer), whether the edges or smart guides are enabled... This does prevent seeing how a gradient is applied to a text with a Real-time preview on.
The video you mentioned did not get attached it seems.
Does it still disappears for you?

Yes, I can confirm the second problem. Even with the Smart Guides turned off, Ai still draws the overlay for the text, similar to one you get when hover over the text with a Selection tool and Smart guides on — a solid fill of text’s layer’s color.

New is illustrator is great in many ways but i have found one bug* or intentional modification by adobe.it is nice to see live preview of gradient as it is being applied.. for the objects, gradient tool works fine as intended but when it is applied to text, it is buggy, i think.
once mouse is clicked for applying gradient, after setting colors in gradient panel and new fill from appearance panel, text vanishes entirely, not allowing to see the gradient. once mouse is released, text with applied gradient appears. it is annoying.
