Ai 2022 Menus unresponsive on startup M1 Mac

Top menus are inactive after launch. Have to click on the finder and then back to illustrator to refresh.

Strange, never heard of experienced this on Windows. If you try to access menus via keyboard hotkeys — can you do it?
