Bug? Recovery Process not working correctly
This has happened twice in the past few days, the first time Illustrator unexpectedly crashed and just now it froze and I had to force quit the program. Both times, when I reopen Illustrator it tells me it's recovered my file(s), shows the correct document name (like Untitled-3, etc) and I press OK. It then pulls up a document called Print.ai which is just a blank artboard, maybe something I made in the past and didn't use? I go to the folder on my computer where the recovered files are supposed to go, it will say the folder has been modified with the accurate date/time but is empty. I've already mourned the loss of my files but was curious if anyone else is having the same issue?
Elizabeth, the team suspects that can be triggered by moving the original file to another folder while it’s still opened.
Then, if Ai crashes, if can’t properly locate it and it leads to this exact problem.
Does it sound like something that could have been the case?

Hey, I got this myself!
Ai crashed.
On relaunch it offered me to restore the file and correctly displayed its name in the dialog.
When I agreed to restore it, I got 'Print.ai' profile opened.
I checked if it’s the actual 'document profile or just a new one named like this — and indeed Ctr+Shift+S opened 'New Document Profiles' folder! It IS the document profile! Why does this happen? -
Strange.
'Print.ai' is a name one of the document profiles Ai uses to base new documents upon. There are also 'Web.ai', 'Mobile', 'Film & Video', 'Art & Illustration'... the same ones you see in File New dialog.
As far as I know, when Ai crashes or gets forcefully closed, it tries to restore docs, but tries only once. In case it crashes again on launch, the temporary files he uses to restore data, are deleted anyway. Kind of lame, actually...
But I never experienced having blank documents opened instead of getting these recovered, on definitely no opening a document profile itself!Hope this never happens again, but if it does, please try to see what folder it opens when you try to save changes to this 'Print.ai', just to be sure it’s the actual document profile file.
