Broken Link / Gaussian Blur dialogs displayed together make Illustrator UI disabled
I’ve been experiencing this Illustrator bug for years, and it has consistently behaved the same way.
It only happens when I already have one or more Illustrator documents open and then open another file with a broken/missing linked image. If a Gaussian Blur progress window appears in front of the missing-link warning, Illustrator becomes stuck afterward: the dialogs disappear, but the canvas can no longer be interacted with and nearly all menu commands are grayed out. I can still save using cmd+s, and switch between documents, but can’t interact with anything on the canvas. Can click the toolbar too, but it doesn’t change the cursor.
If the Gaussian Blur progress window stays behind the missing-link warning, the problem does not occur.
It also never happens when the affected file is the first document opened after launching Illustrator.
I am currently able to reproduce this in Illustrator 30.7 on macOS.

I recall several times seeing a similar repeating progress dialog with missing links (strange, because nothing in those documents had Drop Shadow or other Gaussian Blur-based effects applied... I was never able to figure out what happened, it stopped and it was quite a while since then.
Can you share some specifics? Is it a local file or in your local network? Does it go away when you restore or remove missing links (tested in a copy of the file)? What are your hardware specs also? Will you be able to share the file with the team, if needed? -

This problem suddenly occur today. I can still open the file before I tried to save the document. I've noticed that my CPU is getting loud and eating my memory. So I've tried to "save as" and somehow worked, but after reopening that file, Gaussian Blur progress window appears in front of the missing-link warning. But all the other illustrator files are functionable and can be open anytime. My version of AI is v30.8.1 on Windows 10

As painful as it would be, I have to ask you to reproduce it again and record this on video. A description is fine, but a video is better... Ideally, please provide a simple set of test files for the team to try to make it happen at their side. You can either post them here or send directly to sharewithai@adobe.com (please mention the report’s link then, https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/51635224)
