1. Type on Path Broken - Can't Resize

   Not sure if this has been reported yet or not. When I use the type on path tool and try to resize it the type's center point is moved and/or the kerning is thrown way off. See the video for an example of what's happening.

   The only way I can get around this is making a copy of the object so I can save an editable version, then outline the text on the other version so I can resize. This is a MASSIVE pain.

   Using Ai version 25.4.1

   Everytime I use the copy shortcut or from the edit drop down, Illustrator crashes. I'm on Windows 11. It just started today.

   We have confirmation from multiple users that copy paste crash issue is resolved after updating to latest MS Windows Defender security intelligence update - 1.435.148.

4. A blank white popup window opens over a file when opening.

   Closing the window gets it out of the way & I can continue. It only happens the first time I launch AI and then open a file.

   I'm on a 2016 MacBook Pro running Catalina & Illustrator 24.0.

5. Wrong raster exported with combination of mask, gradient and brush

   I have path with a stroke applied to it.
   Stroke is gradient, applied 'within'
   One point of this gradient has opacity 0.
   This path has mask.
   Mask applied as inverted and clipping.
   Inside this mask I have path with dash brush applied to it.

   All of this looks fine inside AI.
   When I export a picture with Save for web (try other exports yourself, I don't use them) — AI doesn't see mask.

6. Dashed line not working

   I have the latest build of Illustrator 2021 for macOS Big Sur. When I try to apply the dashed line feature to lines or shapes, the effect does not show up. It’s as if I never clicked it. What’s going on here? I’ve never experienced this in past versions of Illustrator. I even tried deleting my preferences. Still nothing. This is so frustrating!

7. Mouse/Tablet issues when using Hej Stylus! in combination with Ai

   Operating system: macOS 10.15.6
   Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB
   Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
   Wacom Tablet, Intros Pro, or Cintiq 24 HD f.i.

   Broken: Ai CS6+

   Eilert from Hej Stylus! writing. Hej Stylus! is a tool that smoothes tablet output amongst other features.
   Hej Stylus! pulls live tablet event data and re-infuses altered events back into the macOS event stream using:

   CGEvent.tapCreate(tap: .cgSessionEventTap,
   place: .headInsertEventTap,
   options: .defaultTap,
   ...
   Using any of Hej Stylus!' position smoothing algos creates cursor issues in Ai - on tablet use only. Mouse is not affected.
   Using Tablet devices causes blender to 'use' both events - although Hej Stylus! is overwriting all tablet events.
   We do wonder if you use any functions that force Ai to process information directly from a hardware source. We hope that you might shed some light on how you process incoming events from tablet devices so that we can find a workaround. Are you using 'mouseLocationOutsideOfEventStream' (or similar) to evaluate the screen position of the pointer? If so, under what conditions? Helping us to understand this process might help us finding a solution and providing a better Illustrator experience.

   Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
   1.) To test this issue goto: hejstylus.com and grab the latest version.
   2.) Use a graphics tablet
   3.) Use a smoothing algorithm (as seen in screen grab)
   4.) Draw something with the tool f.i.

   Today a similar issue was solved by the blender team for their application.

8. Font Height Options misbehave with rounded fonts

   Recently I started to notice that some of the fonts I use make wrong result when x-height or cap-height is used to set a font size.

   I clearly see that the height is of, by eye and the underlying grid, but Character palette says otherwise. I outline the font, I measure glyphs and I get smaller dimensions.

   Take a look at the file and the picture attached.

   When fonts with straight terminals are used, everything is fine. Visual dimensions match metrics precisely.

   But when a font with rounded terminals is used, like two examples at the bottom, things go weird.

   Here is my idea what is going on.
   Curved glyphs are made with the optical compensations. You can clearly see that with 'o' glyphs. Both top examples have their o-s slightly bigger than the x-height — and that is correct.

   When a font designer makes a vertical terminal rounded, they lower it below the baseline to compensate the lack of weight this rounding causes. If you compare the vertical stem of 'r' with the bottom bar of 'z', you will the that 'r' overshoots the baseline.

   So if you measure a glyph with flat top and bottom, like 'z' (here), you can see that it stands on the baseline, but the x-height is smaller that set 40mm.
   If you measure an 'r' glyph from the bottom overshoot (which is below the baseline) to the top point (notice that it differs form font to font and thus can not be used at all) the result is off again.
   But if you measure from overshoot to the flat top... now it gives 40. And this seems to be what Illustrator does.
   Instead of measuring from the baseline, it starts from an optical compensator some glyphs have and should not be used for the measurement. It takes right metrics, but starts at the wrong, overshoot zero.

9. font finder/Missing font box keeps loading and unable to activate missing fonts

   Find Font box not working. Example i am missing fonts and when i open that menu it shows the fonts used in the document but the missing ones just have a loading circle next to it and it never stops.

   Also the Missing font box. When i do have the fonts and want to Activate them they will never activate, It just loads for 10mins and stops with out loading the fonts.

    The Reflect Tool doesn't remember the last setting, (e.g. vertical 90º) and instead puts in a random angle.

12. Save/Save As doesn't work in Action

    1. Make a new document
    2. Record a new Action for Save (CMD+S) and Save As (Shift+CMD+S), stop Action
    3. Do something in the document - Draw the rectangle for example
    4. Play Save/Save As Action
    5. Close the document (Attention!!! No warning about Save Changes!!!)
    6. Open the document

    Result: Opened document doesn't contain the rectangle.
    That means nothing happened with this document while Play Actions

    Illustrator ver. 24.0.2
    It is the critical issue and my suggestion to downgrade Illustrator to 24.0.1, if you use "Save/Save as" and "Close" commands in Actions in your work

13. New text box appearing on clicking in current text box

    When you click in a text box with the type tool, it'll create a new text box unless you click on the actual word you want to modify. Or if you are trying to add something to the end of your text and click like a millimeter off the letter, it'll create a new text box.

    This is super annoying and I'm not quite sure why this function is necessary. It didn't use to be like this until the last update. Please look at this for the next update for those who use a lot of text in Illustrator.

14. Zoom to mouse location

    Prevously when you zoom with the Mouse (magic Mouse 2) it would zoom to the location of the pointer. Now it seems to just zoom to a random point. I move the mouse pointer and it still zooms to the random point. I want to hover my mouse somewhere and then zoom to that position like previous.

    Please try to disable Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display > Zoom to Selection option and see if it solves the problem.

15. PNG import broken

    Illustrator 25.4.8. (on macOS 10.14.6) can't import PNG files any more. For PNG files that have already been placed in previous versions, Illustrator reports a broken link and doesn't allow to relink. (PNG import worked fine in the previous version of Illustrator.)

    If this issue still happens for you, please share a PNG image that Ai fail to place. You can do this directly in the comment or send it over to sharewithai@adobe.com if you are not allowed to share it publicly.

    There is a separate report on failing specifically with 1-bit PNGs you can upvote also, if it’s your case.

16. Enabling Rulers or entering Outline or Isolation mode completely disables GPU Preview

17. Fills rendered not accurate compared to edges when using GPU mode

    I noticed a small rendering issue with strokes in GPU mode. The boundaries seem to be somewhat inaccurate, to the point that in certain situations (regardless of whether or not they're joined and by any method), suck as a tee shape, a small bulge of one stroke can appear beyond the edge of another, even though they shouldn't.

    See attached pictures, the problem area is circled. It is subtle, but visible. There is a slight bulge extending outwards towards the right, presumably from the horizontal path at that junction. This is incorrect, the paths are joined and have identical stroke settings.

    In CPU rendering, it renders correctly, and no bulge is visible. It seems to happen somewhat inconsistently, it doesn't always effect path junctions like that, only sometimes.

    Also, the stroke width visibly changes slightly when switching between CPU and GPU mode. In my case, GPU mode seems to draw them slightly wider (higher stroke pt value) than it should be.

    I wonder if this might be due to error introduced by using single precision floats on the GPU (which I assume is the case, considering how much lower double precision float performance is on most GPUs)? Who knows.

    Regardless, the obvious workaround is to simply use CPU rendering, and it is relatively minor. But it is important to have an accurate representation of what you're doing.

    2 x Xeon E5-2690 v4 CPUs (don't ask ;) )
    64 GB RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8191 MB
    GPU Driver Version: 387.10.10.10.40.122
    CUDA Driver Version: 418.105

    I noticed a small rendering issue with strokes in GPU mode. The boundaries seem to be somewhat inaccurate, to the point that in certain situations (regardless of whether or not they're joined and by any method), suck as a tee shape, a small bulge of one stroke can appear beyond the edge of another, even though they shouldn't.

    See attached pictures, the problem area is circled. It is subtle, but visible. There is a slight bulge extending outwards towards the right, presumably from the horizontal path at that junction. This is incorrect, the paths are joined and have identical stroke… more

    If you have documents that have this behavior, please share the them so that the team can review the bug and make it fixed. Screenshots help, but this can’t be reproduced without the test files. Thank you!

19. Lasso tool not selecting

    Since updating Illustrator a month or so ago, the lasso tool rarely works. No vector points are selected and I'm having to use the direct select tool instead.

    Does it happen all the time for you, or occasionally? in any file, or a specific one? If a certain one — can you share it?

    What is your exact OS details and version used?

    Can you record a short video demonstrating the issue?

20. Deleting Effect Causes Crash

    Any time I try to delete an effect from an object, illustrator crashes.

    Does it still happen for you in the latest build?

    Does it happen when you use Properties?

    Does it happen when you use the dedicated Appearance panel?

    Is it only Drop Shadow or any effect is a problem?
