Dimensions get expanded when moved, with or without related objects
I can somewhat understand dimension object get expanded when they are moved away from the measured object... although this should not happen.
But why the dimension objects get expanded when they are moved WITH the measured object? What, Ai can’t distinguish moving form other transformation? What if need to move my artwork to just insert something else — what, this makes all of my dimensions instantly dead?
Don’t expand dimensions until a user has an clear intention to do it!

Making duplicates is hard because of this. If you want to make a copy of existing artwork with dimensions, you have to remember to lock the layer (which gets unlocked anytime you create a new dimension), and select only the artwork, or these live dimensions just die...
...but the dimensions don’t get copied over if you copy something with move dialog! There is no such an option in the dialog! And Opt/Alt moving won’t create these! And even duplicating an artboard!!!
Infuriating.

寸法オブジェクトは、選択ツールを使って移動すると拡張され、寸法のプロパティが編集できなくなります。
対象のオブジェクトと一緒に移動しても拡張されるので、意図していないときに拡張されないようにしてほしいです。 -

Thanks Egor!
Another suggestion for improvement:
If you click on the dimensioning tool, a small panel appears where you can make certain (default) settings using the gear wheel. In my case, this additional panel was half-hidden BEHIND the tool panel. This is inconsistent and unexpected. As with the other tools, there should be a small triangle in the bottom right-hand corner to indicate that further options are available. If you click on the tool, these options should pop up BEFORE the tool panel.Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
New idea from comment
This comment was upgraded into a new idea: Dimension Tool panel as a tool subgroup instead of a floating modal panel -
Andreas, the dimension objects get expanded when moved separately (expected, since they no longer are attached to an object) or with the object (unexpected, since the relation is not disturbed).
Illustrator displays a 'shy' message about it, in a gray bar at the top of canvas, but it’s easy to miss it.There is a separate bug report about this, and I am merging yours into it.
The only way of keeping the dimensions alive is to move objects only, so that the dimensions accommodate.

I have only moved the dimension without the associated object. I have just tried moving the object and dimension together. Even then you cannot change the attributes of the dimension.

Did you move the dimension on its own or together with the object?
