"Use Artboards" unchecked and still exporting artboards for SVG files
For PNG files, artboard is exported on first save, then saves correctly on the second attempt for whatever reason. Not so lucky with SVG. Having to manually export each one, open in a new window, crop the artboard, repeat...

The general request about the Use Artboards is missing in Save a Copy and Save As dialogs:

@Elmigo, it’s the automatic spam protection UserVoice has that occasionally marks comments as spam, based on whatever reason admins can’t control. What I can do is to review the folder and unspam it back (it happens in ~10% of findings).
Thank you for the exploration, and I’m personally very sorry about it the cruel cost of it (nor that it changes much, I know). Loosing user data is one of the worst crimes (wasting time in general).
The SVG team is aware of this problem with the hidden option. -

For me "Use artboards" is very inconsistent in Illustrator.
I just opened 100+ SVG's to quickly change their color and hit CTRL+S to save the file again. Illustrator decided on his own, that CTRL+S removes the "use artboards" option from the file without even asking me anything. That means I just ruined over 100 SVG files and now I can spend another day restoring them.
Save As: "use artboard" option is offered, but turned off by default and need to be checked manually every single time.
Save: "use artboard" option is NOT offered, but turned off anyway, despite the original file using it (ruining your files if you open, change something and save again).
Export: "use artboard" option is NOT offered, but turned ON for me as you can choose the artboards you like to export. But when do you ever use 'export' when you just want to change the color of an existing file? Honestly...
Illustrator absolutely ruined all my files just now. At this point, this frustrates me enough to start thinking about using different software instead. Illustrator is full of SVG inconsistencies that keep ruining my files, such as automatically saving every file with a suffix "-01" and "-02" etc. behind it, so I don't know which file was which anymore (but that's a different issue).
Illustrator used to be predictable.

Stephen, do you mean Export As or Export for Screens method? Or both?
Do you remember this behavior in previous builds, before 30.0? What version are you using?
