Swatches panel not correctly displaying "Registration Black" swatch label, showing random characters, in a template file
Opening up a company template .ait file and Swatches panel not displaying "Registration Black", but instead showing random characters. Wanted to know cause, if can be prevented, and/or corrected. Also if this is just some odd bug.
We do have a central server location to access file since we do have in-office and remote workers. Everyone is instructed though regardless of location to grab files and work locally, but can not guarantee that this is done 100% of the time.
PC - Windows 11
Illustrator v28.7.10
Illustrator v30.2.1 - also check on another system

Something is off with reading back the encoding in the legacy files, I suppose... Worth checking further, I agree. Can you share these files, please?
Send them to sharewithai@adobe.com, and mention the link to this report — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/51068689 -

All the computers onsite are English. I actually looked into the original file which looks have originated in Illustrator (22.1), but then then modified in Illustrator (27.9).
Template file looks to be some years old now and now after spot checking quite a few files have this in it since using this template. I had just advised to create a new template. However it would be nice to now this can occur.
Language again is still the same across all devices.

Randy, these names (as well as some effects’ other presets’ names) get recorded when a file is written — so It feels like the locale of the computer this template was saved at doesn’t match the one this template gets open at... Can you please check what language does the machine that originated it uses, and what it is for other computers?
