I don't get it. You propose that AI would automatically switch to setting fill (from stroke if it was active before), when you select object with fill, but no stroke? So you can change fill to other fill?

    If so — then no.
AI can't guess your intentions. And if it would try — it will ruin other people's workflows, switching fill/stroke when they don't want to. What if I intend to set stroke, for example?

But I think this switch should automatically change to fill if 'Select same fill' is executed and same for stroke.
There is a request for this:

I confirm, clicking labels in Properties really does nothing, but should select values.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

I can confirm for AI 22.1
    Please test this file out:

Open, set overprint for gradient strokes, save, close, reopen, check overprints — they would be off!

Sometimes it can be done. Try use 'Flatten transparency' command with 'Vectors' set to maximum (and try other options there) — it does exactly what you want.
But sometimes transparencies can't be converted to flat gradients — then you get rasters anyway.

You can grab palette's edge and stretch it, making gradient there larger. Is it not enough?

Hello, Ares! I like the need, but I don't like the solution you provide.
May be introducing palette commands like 'Move layer backward/forward' will do the trick?

Well, it will start to work, if you open Layers palette, locate your compound clipping path, select it there and then send backwards (Ctrl+Shift+[).
But still it is a bug, voting.

Why I can't cycle selected objects with this 'Next object above/below' (both from menu or hotkeys) in Isolation mode? What's the purpose of taking this away?

Don't say it is intended, because, again, WHY?

Strange. It was an issue recently and users figured out it happens when you switch to Artboard tool and back, but then it has been solved.
Just have checked — mine is switching back to Snap to Artboard now, as it used to be before, as long as key object is not set.
Are you sure you use 22.0.2 and not 22.0.1? This hot fix was not automatical update.

It works as you describe in last version, 22.0.2. Constantly resetting 'Align to' option was a bug and has been fixed.
Is it or not for you, please check.

    Hi, Douglas.

I don't get it, so I assume someone else could too.

    1. What is bad with 'Snap to grid' about snapping when moving things directly?

    2. You can achieve this partially by applying too 'Offset path' effects — one minus your round corner radius, one plus, round joins. This will affect all corners, but they will survive scaling.
There is also 'Round corner effects', which works kinda like trick above, but worse.
You can also look for DynamicCorners plugin.

    3. This one I don't get completely, sorry. Could you illustrate it?

You will never have them perfect with Bezier curves.
    Ellipse is always an approximation.
Let me cite this magnificent article — https://pomax.github.io/bezierinfo/:

“Circles and Bézier curves are very different beasts, and circles are infinitely easier to work with than Bézier curves. Their formula is much simpler, and they can be drawn more efficiently. But, sometimes you don't have the luxury of using circles, or ellipses, or arcs. Sometimes, all you have are Bézier curves. ... So how do you draw a circle, or an ellipse, or an arc?

    You approximate.

We already know that Bézier curves cannot model all curves that we can think of, and this includes perfect circles, as well as ellipses, and their arc counterparts. However, we can certainly approximate them to a degree that is visually acceptable. Quadratic and cubic curves offer us different curvature control, so in order to approximate a circle we will first need to figure out what the error is if we try to approximate arcs of increasing degree with quadratic and cubic curves, and where the coordinates even lie.”

You can buy DynamicShapes plugin from AstuteGraphics — it allows you to create ellipses with more points — or use a script (http://shspage.com/aijs/en/#circle)

Neeraj, what if you just make both places visible, whenever list is dropped down? And when user will start to scroll the list, Recent would go away?
Or make Recent be glued at the top of the list and stay always?
Or give options to choose either way?

I would like to use both Recent and whole list, so what you propose is the same thing as 'Zoom to selection' problem — use it as it is or just don't.

Please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience. Please get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.

    Anish and others.
I figured out that this bug happens much more often when I have Outline effect applied to it (I use it to disable hinting). It seems that AI recalculates effect, bring up progress window and this window takes away focus from Font Family field! I'm sure this bug also happen with more complex effects.
I'm also sure AICC2017 never does this.
And I also have AICC2018 sometimes still loose focus even with no appearance applied to text. I still don't know why, may be my mouse twitches and cursor goes off drop-down area? I try to keep cursor in the middle of it, when scrolling through fonts, but it still have these.

And worse part — when it turns off, I still have initial font applied and not the last one previewed, and I have to search it again manually, because AI now show it in Recent Fonts and not actual position in list.

AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) commented  ·

Very-very often, when I scroll through my font list in Character palette, trying to pick a right font, AI CC2018 decides to apply it (I press nothing, only scroll) and displays wrong name, wrong outlines, wrong everything. Sometimes it does OK and sometimes it does this with every font I get. When I try to undo change, it even doesn't see it and undoes previous change.
This also happens with both 'Missing glyph protection' on and off.

    New bug every day.
    I open CC2017.
I will better work a bit slower, with Ctrl+A broken for single character, with Actions forgetting scripts, but without new bugs.

I have no idea how to reproduce it, just work.
See animation, I got it recorded.

Can you show opacity settings for black rectangle?
Have you tried to manually rearrange objects via Layers palette? Are you working on one layer?
Have you tired to use other ways of sending rectangle back (not context menu)? Through the Object > Arrange command?
Have you tried to bring objects to the front instead of sending rectangle back?
Can you delete everything except one piece and rectangle and upload copy it for testing?
