We have done further updates to Dimension tool with recently released version - 28.3

You can create and use your custom scale for dimension, hide or show units on dimensions and dimensions are now sticky to the object - they transform as well when you transform the object.

My personal answers to @Yogesh Sharma's questions:

    1. It would have to be inside Illustrator first and foremost. Personally, I frequently send pngs of an object, with measurements shown visually. The people I send these to would not likely be able to use an online service to figure out all of these measurements themselves. But- the additional separate online service idea you mentioned sounds neat, and would be cool to have in addition. Provided it is an online service that would be easy to use for people outside of the "Adobe" network, that don't have subscriptions or accounts.

2: I use mostly horizontal and vertical dimensions- but angular dimensions would be handy as well.

Details on workflow; The projects I usually need this for are when I send graphics to be screen printed onto a product, and along with the "graphic" file, I will send a second file with dimensions shown for each section. Also for sending sticker design files- with a separate file visually showing the height and width specs of the sticker.

What I'm imaging is a tool similar to like exists in CAD, where you can click a point and draw a line, then the measurement of that line just shows up to the side, and the two end points of that line show up as arrows.

Just a general status update. We are currently and will continuously improve SVG import support in Adobe Illustrator. We are currently working on solving the issues mentioned in this report. Please feel free to open new bug reports here on uservoice if you are experiencing additional/untracked issues.

Hi @Dirk! This thread of comments seems to be pretty detailed, and I'm not sure if the problem I'm having is covered under it or not.

My issue is that when I save a file as an SVG, send it to someone else, and they open it in Inkscape- it doesn't open to the correct size.

I tried both "save as" to SVG and "export as" SVG, and the results are the same. Also tried checking and unchecking the "responsive" box since some people online suggested that to make a difference.
But no matter, it always opened 33% smaller in Inkscape than it was supposed to.

The only resolution in the end was that I had to re-save all my files in illustrator to be 33% larger before sending them.
Then, when opening them in Inkscape, they shrunk 33% to the correct original size.

I've searched online, and found no solutions, but there are some old threads where some people have tried to explain it as being a dpi problem, or say it's generally just un-solvable.

But- I remember saving svgs and sending to Inkscape for some projects a few years ago (maybe around 2014) and I don't recall having this issue.

I looked through the reported bugs and couldn't find one that sounded like this issue, but if it's something that hasn't been flagged yet, I'm happy to post an official request.

    Thank you!

    As per the comment.

The rounded corner box is still there in new versions, but hidden, as a 'not-frequently-used' — well, statistics-wise. Click on the three dots at the bottom of your toolbar and pick Rounded Rectangle tool directly, or drop it into your toolbar.

Please free to add comments, if you think that this tool should be included to the Essentials toolbox anyway, and why you think this is important.

Mac OS High Sierra, Version 10.13.1
    Adobe Illustrator Version: 23.0

For this linear gradient, my middle value is (0,0,0,90) and my two end values are (0,0,0,95)
The rendering shows up very blocky and striped.
All other color options appear to be blending fine.
But most combinations of the really dark blacks and greys show up blocky like this.

The same is happening for me.

I have an object selected, I then go to 'Window>Gradient' and on the 'Gradient' tool panel I can see the three 'type' icons for 'linear,' 'radial,' and then 'freeform.' But the 'freeform' one is completely greyed out and I cannot click on it.

Also interesting/weird, when using the gradient tool panel, in the gradient slider area when I either click to add a color, or click and drag a color away- the 'freeform icon' that is greyed out above flashes for a split second to it's 'not greyed out' icon view. It's only for a flash of a second, and it doesn't do anything, it just looks glitchy.

    * upon further testing, it also does the weird "glitch flash" when I click between the 'linear' and 'radial' options, and when I click between the three stroke options.
    * also, when clicking between the three stroke options, the 'angle' field that allows you to change the angle of the gradient does the same "glitch flash" when clicking "Apply gradient along stroke" and "Apply gradient across stroke"

You are referring to the content aware crop feature: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html#ContentAwareCrop

To turn this feature off please visit the Preference dialog (CMD+K) and turn off “Enable Content Aware defaults”

If I may suggest a workflow for you.
    1. Use linked images, they not only are fast but also save disk space.
    2. If you already have embedded images in your file, please use the unembed feature of Illustrator to export and link files automatically for you.
    3. All linked images have this feature of Edit Original where you can edit images in a software of your choice like Photoshop.
    4. If you have to share files to other users please make use of File menu>Package feature to collect everything including linked images and fonts in one directory.

Yeah- I remember this problem when it showed up originally, and yes it was fixed for awhile. I'm now experiencing it again? There's no error message or anything, it just isn't as high a resolution as it should be when I open the file and check it after saving.

Super excited for the fix, but how do I update to 22.0.1? When I open the Adobe Creative Cloud drop down it says "no updates"

Your workaround is not "simple." You need to fix the issue, not offer a complex work around and act like this is something we should just fix ourselves. This is a huge pain and I'm unimpressed that with as much as we pay for our subscriptions, a bug this large was able to get through. Just because you can release updates whenever you want, doesn't mean you should. I'd rather wait longer for a less buggy update, than have a ****** one sooner.

I've needed this many times before, but I am realistic enough to realize it might seriously hinder the speed of the program. Nice to know you guys are looking into a way to make it work, thanks Yogesh!
