Sean, the new Beta release have an option to Intertwine objects, giving you a way to make knots like this. It won’t work exactly the way you described, especially for multiple strokes, but it’s going there.
Please try it and give your feedback.

We have done further updates to Dimension tool with recently released version - 28.3
You can create and use your custom scale for dimension, hide or show units on dimensions and dimensions are now sticky to the object - they transform as well when you transform the object.

This seems to an InDesign issue or slowness of your file system or network. Illustrator has no role in the link update / place inside Indesign.

It is possible to do in Illustrator as well — not in Preferences, but in File > Document Setup dialog (Cmd/Ctrl + Alt +P) — because these settings are local for a document and not global. Same exact controls.

It is now possible to update several images at once in the latest Beta 28.1.0.100.
To do that, you can check the 'Unembed all selected images to this folder' option next to Unembed / Cancel buttons in the Unembed dialog.
Please try it and comment back if it works for you as expected (or not).

In CC 2019 (latest update 23.0.1), at 100% Zoom 1inch artwork would display at 1inch in physical (Print) size, on any display. If this doesn’t work right for screen design workflows, please use the checkbox Preferences > General > Display Print Size at 100% Zoom, to turn off the feature. Currently this feature works only on primary display, and there are plans of extending this to other attached displays.
Jeremy supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Jeremy commentedAs long as I can remember, illustrator's zoom level percentage has meant diddly squat, because 100% zoom doesn't actually ever represent a 1" line on the screen with 1" worth of pixels.
I would like to see a way to enter in a factor into the preferences that would correct this. E.G. My screen at 100% displays a 3"x3" square at 2 3/16" x 2 3/16". What I am proposing is that we could enter in a factor to correct this:
Since 2 3/16 multiplied by 1.371429 results in 3, the factor I would enter in would be 1.371429. It would be even nicer if there was a "wizard" feature that helped one determine the zoom factor to use or set it for us based upon physical measurements.
A separate vertical -vs- horizontal factor may or may not be needed for some monitors, i don't know, but something to consider.

And it’s now in Beta 28.1.0.100 and you can try it and see if it works as expected. This really feels like a fixed bug, something we all should have had from the day inside/outside strokes got introduced.
Please, give it a go and comment back!

I am happy to share that ‘Auto spell-check’ feature has been shipped in the latest version of Illustrator. Here is how to enable/disable it in the latest release : https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/whats-new/2020.html#spellcheck

An error occurred while saving the comment Jeremy commentedThe current image trace is very good, but it's not any better than other auto-tracing tools I've used from other software packages. I would love to see this feature improved by ML through Adobe Sensei, not only for clipart looking images but photographic images as well (with options for different "styles", maximizing appearance while conserving space, etc...).

Need something like the CadTools plugin does, but just simple dimensions from selected points. I.E. you click a point, and then another and AI add the measurement as art objects. You would need to incorporate scale.
