   In CC 2019 (latest update 23.0.1), at 100% Zoom 1inch artwork would display at 1inch in physical (Print) size, on any display. If this doesn’t work right for screen design workflows, please use the checkbox Preferences > General > Display Print Size at 100% Zoom, to turn off the feature. Currently this feature works only on primary display, and there are plans of extending this to other attached displays.

   We have improved the working experience of Free Distort tool. Now the bounding box will not reset! This functionality now is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.

   As stated in this request’s status update, the team had to temporarily revoke the 'Search for missing links in this folder' feature to make a way for the missing 'Apply to All' option when relinking, starting with version 29.2.

   These two can’t coexist at the moment, and the team intends to come up with a better solution to allow both.

   Starting with version 29.3, Illustrator got the 'Embed permitted fonts for file preview' option in the Illustrator Options save dialog.

   Currently it’s disabled by default, because there were multiple confused complaints on the changed behavior.

   When missing in your current system, fonts will render as previews in the documents that were saved with this option enabled — it 'bakes' these outlines in. When we try to edit one though, we get a warning and the font becomes substituted, as before.

   However, this is not 'Convert text to outlines on open' as we requested it. The option does not provide a way to do that for all the embedded outline previews, and Ai still doesn’t allow to select these at once.    Starting from the February 2024 release, version 28.3, this option is no longer enabled by default for new documents. If you had hyphenation enabled in an existing document, Ai will respect this.

    Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!

     

    Dear Illustrator Community,

    I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.

    While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.

    Our Approach

    We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.

    It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across the entire application.

    What We've Accomplished So Far

    We've already moved a few areas to multiple threads:

    - Periodic document back-up

    - Snapping guide generation

    - Rasterization (currently for JPEG, PNG, and TIFF formats)

    - Thumbnail generation for layers

    - Linked/Embedded image (jpg, png, tiff) handling

    What to Expect

    These improvements will lead to more responsive and faster performance in several key areas:

    - Placing multiple images

    - Embedding linked images

    - Object > Rasterize

    - Export to PNG format

    - Document opening with heavy linked images

    - Simultaneous placement and drag-and-drop of multiple linked/embedded images (JPEG, PNG, and TIFF files)

    We're committed to enhancing your Illustrator experience, and this is just the beginning. While the full implementation will take time, we're excited about the improvements already in place and those yet to come.

    In latest versions you can enable 'Select and Unlock objects on canvas' option in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display section.

    This adds small lock icons for each locked object you can toggle right there without the need to unlock everything first.

    This is not exactly the solution you asked for, no hotkeys involved (and there are no modifiers left to allow this), but it does the job.
