Another major version of Illustrator--2025--and another year of this maddening issue not being fixed. The color panel still pops up when you click the stroke/fill selectors. How long is Adobe going to keep ignoring our problems?

Who wants to guess whether this annoying bug has been fixed in Illustrator 2024?

    It hasn't!

Illustrator 2023 is out! And this annoying issue is still broken.

It's been over 4 and half years since this issue has been posted, and not a peep from Adobe about it. How much longer do we have to wait for Adobe to fix this ongoing bug in the software that we use daily?

Years and years and years later, Adobe still hasn't fixed this stupid, annoying bug. Do Adobe employees even use Illustrator? If they did, this problem would annoy them as much as it does us.

What's the point of having a uservoice forum when Adobe is just going to ignore it?

We now have Illustrator 2021 and still this terribly annoying bug remains and hasn't even been looked at by Adobe. It's clear that no one at Adobe actually uses their own software, because if they did, they'd also be pulling their hair out due to this stupid bug that makes the unwanted color panel pop up all the time.

Alex, that does not work. The color panel still pops up as described in this post.

I don't use the color panel and I never will. I don't want it on my screen ever. But whenever I click between fill or stroke, the color panel pops up. So my only choice is to always have it on my screen, overriding other panels that I prefer. Please stop forcing this annoying panel on us and fix this bug!

I am closing the ticket due to lack of response.
Please get in touch with us at sharewithai@adobe.com or any of the other support channels.
Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.

The most recent version finally has the Object > Distribute menu added.

Now both Align and Distribute commands can be accessed via menu and have assigned keyboards shortcuts to them.

The order of the commands though seemingly matches the one the panel has: horizontal first for Align and vertical first for Distribute. If you find this odd and want to change it — vote here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/45855823-sync-the-order-of-align-and-distribute-menu-comman

Also, Align To and Distribute Spacing commands are still missing in top menus, so please keep voting here to make them added too.

    Hi Everyone,

We have added a preference to enable ‘Zoom with Mouse Wheel’. Go to Preferences→ General→ Enable ‘Zoom with Mouse Wheel’.

Also, now you can pan the doucment using the middle click of the mouse.

Both of these functionality are available since January 2021 release (version 25.1) onwards.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback

Incredible! It's 2021 and I can finally navigate Illustrator one-handed! I actually can't believe Adobe implemented this, I thought it would be another 5-10 years at least...

We have done further updates to Dimension tool with recently released version - 28.3

You can create and use your custom scale for dimension, hide or show units on dimensions and dimensions are now sticky to the object - they transform as well when you transform the object.

    Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!

    Dear Illustrator Community,

I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.

While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.

    Our Approach

We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.

It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…

    Hi Everyone,

This has been completed, and has available since June 2020 release (version 24.2)

Please go to Illustrator preferences > General > and select “Show/Hide Rulers” (refer attached screenshot). After checking this, if you hit ‘Show Rulers (Ctrl/Cmd + R)’, then the rulers will appear in every document (new and old), even after relaunching Illustrator.

Please update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback.

Hi Neeraj Nandkeolyar, can you please remove your premature "completed" status? You did not at all address the issue. The issue here is very clear: Show rulers by default. This has nothing to do with showing rulers across documents. I don't know how you can conflate these very different issues.

In CC 2019 (latest update 23.0.1), at 100% Zoom 1inch artwork would display at 1inch in physical (Print) size, on any display. If this doesn’t work right for screen design workflows, please use the checkbox Preferences > General > Display Print Size at 100% Zoom, to turn off the feature. Currently this feature works only on primary display, and there are plans of extending this to other attached displays.

I just tested 100% on my monitor and was pleasantly surprised that an A4 sheet was automatically exactly the right size.
