    Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!

    Dear Illustrator Community,

I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.

While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.

    Our Approach

We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.

It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…

Hi Anish, this tells me that the original post isn't exactly clear. This is not a bug to the program - this is how point type has always worked, and it has never made any sense. See video attached. Not sure why point type and area type should behave in two different ways.

The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.

The Previewed Page is now the default option for the dialog.

Here is an updated Help article:https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/importing-pdf-files.html

Congratulations, folks! Took us 5.5 years to get it!

Glad someone has addressed this already. It's a small thing, but it's so dumb that I have to flip through page by page to see which one I want and then type that number in below.

This appears to be Adobe environment wide. This is the first I've run into this in Illustrator, but I have had the same problem with Photoshop. The only way to fix this is to drag the file out of the tray, but then you run into other issues with usability. I JUST UPDATED to 23.0.2 this morning after the fix with the toolbar has been giving me so much trouble.

I've included a screen video of the issue. https://vimeo.com/316804366
I am running Mac OSX Mojave 10.14 (18A391)

I have an open thread about Photoshop on this issue here:
    https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/repeatedly-photoshop-just-freezes-the-image-to-whatever-is-on-screen-but-doesnt-actually-change-the-window-to-what-it?utm_source=notification&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=new_reply&utm_content=topic_link

Update: it also changes all layer and other panel info to match the correct file, but still does not change the window with the artboards & content.

I opened a large file, while having a couple other docs open. My screen still shows the original doc in my window, with complete capability to edit, select, and pan, but is showing that I'm clicked into the new drawing at the top tab. This is a fundamental flaw to file opening that is only resolved by restarting.

Illustrator today has Cut, Copy, Paste and other Paste variants in the context menu.

However, Lock and Hide are missing still. Please continue voting and commenting if you need these items.

Similar to Sketchup for getting out of groups or components. Steps back one level each press.

Happy to announce that we have introduced 'Preview Missing Fonts' functionality to improve your experience when working with files that contain unavailable fonts.

If you open a file with missing fonts, Illustrator will now render the text correctly on the artboard in Preview Mode, even if the fonts are not installed on your system. This ensures the files appear as intended without requiring immediate font installation.

    How does it work?

    1. When you open a file with missing fonts, the Missing Fonts Window will appear, listing fonts that are in Preview Only Mode.

    2. Close the Missing Fonts Window to view the text rendered accurately on the artboard.

    3. You can optionally select the text, go to Objects -> Expand… to convert the text to outlines.

    4. The text in Preview Mode is not editable. If you attempt to edit the text in Preview Mode, a warning will appear, notifying…
