The team has encountered several issues with this feature. It requires them to change the basic algorithms and it is going to take them more time than anticipated.
While it still works in Beta 28.8.0.7, the next Beta build will have Inside/Outside aligned strokes for open paths disabled. The Beta is scheduled to be live on 7th of August.
Once this is ready to be enabled back, the team will update the status.

This is an area where many teams at Adobe are exploring ways to make it easier for users to discover and use fonts. Stay tuned.
An error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedNot likely to be addressed. Font management has its own corner of the market already with a pretty devoted set of users. Google it for some top options. If you're on a Mac and want something easy and cheap but better than Fontbook (default), I recommend Typeface—well worth the $10.

Both 'Fit to Artwork Bounds' and 'Fit to Selected Art' commands can be inserted in an action using the 'Insert menu item...' command from the Actions panel’s flyout menu.
This approach can be used to insert other commands which Illustrator skips while recording. You can read more about it here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/automation-actions.html
An error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedEasy—record an action. Object>artboards>fit to artwork bounds. Set your actions panel to "button mode" and you've just solved your own problem, sir.

An error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedGreat idea! In the interim, I'd record a few actions with the dimensions you like, click the hamburger icon in the Actions panel, and select "button mode" for quick execution. Might even be easier than your eyedropper idea.

Or right-click your selection and choose "Transform Each" from the context menu. I feel like the current dialogue addresses your needs so you might have to be more specific. Alternative you can make use of Symbols to link attributes to a single instance of an object.

An error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedNo experience with CAD files so I have no idea if this addresses your needs: suppose you have two overlapping elements—holding down cmd (on Mac) and clicking a top-level object allows you to select the object right underneath it. Sort of like clicking "through" the top object.

An error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedYes this is utterly dumb. Probably one of the top Illustrator behaviors that I'm prepared to be downright mean about, which is not a normal thing for me. I'm a very nice person. But I can't think of an instance where I've thought "oh, thank goodness, I can select this object by it's shadow/glow/whatever!"

An error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedYeah I feel like Adobe has put TONS of emphasis on something that's woefully underpowered. Can't tell you how many times I want to access an asset without having to create a blank doc for no reason, but that's honestly easier than navigating the Assets web page. Consider creating a version of Bridge, but for graphic designers. And, unlike Bridge, make it useful. Lingo is a great example of an app doing asset management well—having a native application with Adobe integration can only be that much better.

An error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedI get Egor's point. I think it's safe to say a majority of us find the behavior annoying but everyone wins if you just implement a modifier key or a setting in the preferences should you decide to alter the behavior.

An error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedYeah it's there, Adobe just doesn't make the feature particularly apparent. Naming the feature "variables" instead of something everyone is familiar with like "data/data merge/etc." is a bit beyond me. So just do that—rename the stupid feature and high-five yourselves :)

The latest Beta 29.2.38 now offers a way to see the distances between a selected object and an object hovered over / edges of an artboard.
- Click on the object you want to measure the distance from
- Press Opt/Alt and hover over the object that you want to measure distance to
- You can also hover over empty area to see the distance from the selected object and the artboard boundaries
Please try it and come back with the feedback.
An error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedYeah I never understood why Photoshop—a raster-based application known for digital painting and photo manipulation—got this feature before Illustrator. I have all kinds of thoughts on people using Ps for UI/logo/icon work suited for a vector-based application (like, you know, Illustrator) and Adobe erroneously enabling the somewhat misguided use of their apps by bloating the **** out of Ps with features, but I'll spare you.

The latest Beta 28.8.0.37 now has this function back.
You can enable the mode using a button in Control Panel or in Properties, with the Artboard tool picked.
The option automatically enables Scale Strokes & Effects option temporarily.
As always, you can hold Shift to resize proportionally.
Please test it and comment back!

We have passed this request along to Grammarly and that while Grammarly thought it would be useful, they’re unable to prioritize it at this time.

Please share your thoughts on the following:
1. Would it make sense to have a separate desktop app, just to create charts, and bring them inside Illustrator or InDesign? It may not be on cloud.
2. Or would you rather have us work on building it within Illustrator?
Thanks
YogeshAn error occurred while saving the comment Miles Stevens commentedYeah assuming Project Lincoln still stands, your suggesting is being addressed :)
