I can see why anyone who has never used CAD software would be confused, but it's only because they aren't familiar with the behavior because it's never been available to them. We figured this one out in a couple minutes as 15 year old high school drafting students. I'm sure a bunch of motivated, intelligent professionals can adapt, particularly if it is offered as an opt-in setting rather than a new default (which no one likes anyway). You could make a bunch of users happy, and the ones confused by the behavior would be unaffected as they don't have to activate it. For example, 3DS Max allows you to turn this selection type on and off, make it so it's always enclosed or open selection, and even change the window direction for enclosed/open. Besides, I feel like anyone who is familiar with the feature could easily demonstrate to other artists how quickly it will make their lives easier and end their confusion and frustration. I found the pen tool really frustrating when I first tried it coming from AutoCAD. Then someone explained it to me and I was fine.

I love Illustrator and I hate AutoCAD, but sometimes it feels like Illustrator is still lagging behind the decades-old features of that absolute dinosaur of a program.

I can't express how incredibly useful this would be. Every other vector graphics or 3D software I've ever used has had this basic quality-of-life feature.

Egor, I'm not seeing a SuperMarquee tool on Astute's website. Is this just like how I open the fridge and can't find things that are right there in front of me or do they not offer it anymore? Some of the other plugins sound great though.

I know I've already commented, but I can't stress enough how much this would improve the usability of Ai. I'm surprised that more people aren't asking for this because I think about it every single time I use illustrator.

I've wanted this for like 15 years. I've seen it requested over and over again. Seems like a pretty basic function that anyone who has used CAD/3D software knows is super useful. They could just make it an opt-in feature so as not to bug users who aren't familiar with it.

Would save sooo much time and frustration when you're working on something with a lot of objects or points crammed together. Also, I'm not a developer, but it seems like a relatively easy thing to implement?

This would be super helpful when editing existing swatches and you want to match another color. Adding an eyedropper to the interface would also be helpful.

Just a general status update. We are currently and will continuously improve SVG import support in Adobe Illustrator. We are currently working on solving the issues mentioned in this report. Please feel free to open new bug reports here on uservoice if you are experiencing additional/untracked issues.

The most recent version finally has the Object > Distribute menu added.

Now both Align and Distribute commands can be accessed via menu and have assigned keyboards shortcuts to them.

The order of the commands though seemingly matches the one the panel has: horizontal first for Align and vertical first for Distribute. If you find this odd and want to change it — vote here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/45855823-sync-the-order-of-align-and-distribute-menu-comman

Also, Align To and Distribute Spacing commands are still missing in top menus, so please keep voting here to make them added too.

We have done further updates to Dimension tool with recently released version - 28.3

You can create and use your custom scale for dimension, hide or show units on dimensions and dimensions are now sticky to the object - they transform as well when you transform the object.

    Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!

    Dear Illustrator Community,

I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.

While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.

    Our Approach

We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.

It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…

Excited to share that the requested functionality is now available in the public builds starting from V 28.3.0.

WIth the new Enclosed Mode, you can now select ONLY those objects which are completely INSIDE the marquee.

To activate the Enclosed Mode, just press 'E' ONCE after you start doing the marquee with the Normal Selection Tool or Group Selection tool.

    Please note that,

    1. The button E acts as a toggle, which means you just have to press E once, to get into or out of the enclosed mode.

    2. You have to press E only after doing the marquee, pressing E in empty canvas will invoke the Free Transform tool or the tool the shortcut 'E' is assigned to.

We made a lot of effort in building this capability, so please try it out and let us what you all think!

Granted, programs like AutoCAD are super clunky and outdated, but Adobe could learn a ton from them. There are a lot of quality-of-life features like this missing from Ai.
