  1. Please figure out how windows work. AI app window keeps on getting obstructed and out of focus

    my idea, is that the app window is "in focus" as soon as you touch any part of it. Being no web app can obscure it — which it does on the daily. Webex, Chrome and even Safari feel free appearing on top of my AI window. Ma dudes. Tell me I am not the 1st one to notice.

  3. Make Eyedropper to highlight text when painting formatting

    If you are holding Option/Alt with the Eyedropper you can 'paint' formatting onto text. At the moment you can't see exactly where this is applying though until you release the click. In Indesign, it highlights the text you are painting. It should be the same in Illustrator.

    This is important for formatting large piece of text, and with the lack of ability to use keyboard shortcuts when text is selected, this feature is even more important.

  4. Gradient Tool Needs Custom Angle Increment Option

    There should be an option to define the angle increment that you want Shift to lock to when creating or modifying a gradient. Such as 15 degree increments (0º, 15º, 30º...). Come on Adobe!

  5. User defined scales for Dimension tool

    Repost from general discussions:
    I'm delighted to see the addition of the dimensioning tool, but I'm not wild about the fixed choice of scaling ratios. The option to set one's own scales would be great.

    Failing that, a 1:12 scale seems like a glaring omission for those of us still using inches and feet.

    Am I missing something?

    It is possible now to set up a custom scale in Ai Beta 28.4.0.2.

    In Dimension Tool Options dialog open the Scale dropdown and choose custom to get the Custom Scale dialog.

    It works for decimal scales only, like 1:12 or 1:15, but not for Imperial scales like 1/16"

    Please try it and comment back.

  6. Path tracing should chunk down large images

    When vectorising an image that is large and intricate. The illustrator path tracing algorithm should split the image into smaller squares then stitch them back together for the final output.

  10. OKHSL Color Model Support - Better than HSL

    The HSL color model has a lot of issues with it and has been improved upon with OKHSL.

    See this article—once you see the OKHSL color wheel, you will be sold instantly! Looks way better.

    Illustratorの「スクリーン用に書き出し」につけられるプレフィックスをaiファイルごとに保存できるようにしてほしい。
    プロジェクトAのaiファイルを編集→プロジェクトA用のプレフィックスで書き出し
    プロジェクトBのaiファイルも続けて編集→書き出し→プレフィックスだけAになるのが困る。

    2.ファイル管理が楽になる、プロジェクトをまたぐ作業のときにミスが減る。

  13. Revisit the interactions of gradients, brushes, and patterns.

    You can't make pattern swatches with gradients in them. This limitation probably made a lot of sense back in 1996 when gradients were new and complicated. Does it still make sense in 2024, with thirty years of CPU manufacturers fighting to keep Moore's Law valid?

    You can't apply a gradient stroke to an art/pattern/scatter brush. Again, this limitation probably made sense back in 2012 when gradient strokes were added to Illustrator. Does it still make sense in 2024?

    I'm pretty tired of working around both of these limitations.

  14. The Reflect tool should respect stroke variable width and Use Preview Bounds option

    Notice how the thicker stroke width moves to the outside of the circle when using the reflect tool, meaning that the reflect tool currently does not take the stroke width in consideration when performing a reflect (or mirror). One therefore have to manually edit the stroke width after using the tool in order to achieve a truly reflected version of the object.

  15. Allow for negative value input and Option click with Line Segment Tool

    As you may know, holding down the Option key and clicking on your artboard with any of the shape tools (Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon, Star) creates the shape centered on where you clicked, as opposed to the right and down from where you clicked. Please also apply this function to the Line Segment Tool as well as allow for negative value input in order to create the line in the opposite direction of the current angle value, just as you can enter a negative value to move an object in the opposite direction…

  16. Restore a way to copy the value from another filed with a click on the input’s caption in dialogs

    Please bring back the one-click way to duplicate a value from one input field into another for dialogs.

    This was available from version 8 through CS5.
    Make it a toggle in Preferences.

    For example, if i wanted to make a square 100mm x 100mm I would select the rectangle tool (M) and then click once in the work area... the dialogue box would come up... I would then only have to enter 100mm into the Width,

  18. A way to make a pattern's location match where it was originally created instead of aligning with the ruler origin

    I like to use large patterns to create effects like "rays centered on a focal point of the image" in my artwork. Or to work around the fact that clipping masks can't have complex appearance stacks. These sort of patterns work best when they are precisely aligned to the artwork.

    Currently the workflow to do this is as follows:

    1. Create some art to be a pattern that aligns with some important part of my drawing. Select it and do Object > Pattern > Create.
    2. Give it a name and close the pattern creation window.

  19. Allow to have zero extension value for the Extension Lines for Dimensions

    For some reason there is a minimal value we can set for extensions above the dimension line — 0,01 pt.

  20. Show status for Hide/Show Edges

    It would be really useful if you had an indicator in the toolbar that shows if Edges are currently Hidden or Shown. It could also be a toggle, but just showing the status clearly and always would be enough.
