Quick Look support for .ai files in MacOS
Selecting a file in the MacOS Finder and then pressing spacebar to preview the file is one of the great features of the OS. It works with image files of many types as well as PDF files, etc. But not .ai files. Please build a Quick Look extension to add this support. Thanks.

Illustrator window should stay maximized when opening existing documents from Explorer
What we want is simple, make it so that opening an Ai file from File Explorer does not change if Ai is in windowed mode, or fullscreen mode.
This has been an issue for years that disrupts the workflow of users on a regular basis. Here is an old forum thread going back as far as June 2012 further detailing this ongoing issue: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1026020
When opening an Ai file from File Explorer, Illustrator automatically Restores down to a window from Maximized mode. While the work-around, (of extending edges of Illustrator's window from edge-to-edge of the desired monitor), minimizes the impact of being reduced to windowed mode, many other users, including myself, still find ourselves re-Maximizing the window to fullscreen.
Adobe, via Creative Cloud, recently launched the first round of 2019 Edition updates, and it would be greatly appreciated if this pesky and disruptive issue would be resolved at last.
Thanks for your time.

Non-breaking space (NBSP) should work
AI ignores NBSP when it's places as symbol. 'No break' option is an option but ridiculously hard to be applied quickly. Anyway NBSP should work
42 votesWhile NBSP works in the general build now, the symbol it uses is still not consistent with InDesign. AFAIK, it was done to quickly push the fix to users... but it’s been 2 years since.

Can we rename multiple layers in one go?
For example, we select 10 different layers, we right click and select "rename layer(s)" and then a prompt comes up where we type the name we want to assign to all the selected layers.

Ability to edit a graphic style in Graphic Styles
If I want to edit an existing and saved graphic style, I have to apply it to an object, go to Appearance, make changes, open Graphic Styles palette again and Alt+Drag object with style over style thumbnail (or dig into the menu to redefine it). This is very long way.
If I just select a style and go to Appearance and make changes — the link between style and appearance will just vanish (the name of style vanishes), these changes will apply only to new art, and style itself won't be changed (unless I redefine it immediately).
Please, make a way to quickly edit styles without drag-n-drop routine. Why not double-clicking style thumb open Appearance in edit style mode or something? Why it only allows to change name? Why double-clicking swatch allows to change the color, but double-clicking style only allows to change name?If I want to edit an existing and saved graphic style, I have to apply it to an object, go to Appearance, make changes, open Graphic Styles palette again and Alt+Drag object with style over style thumbnail (or dig into the menu to redefine it). Allow to set custom default layer colors, with options
In 2017 we asked to allow to customize colors for layers, so that edges drawn for object didn’t burn our eyes out: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/31535431
In 2020 Illustrator team removed yellow color from the default 5th color for new layers, shifting the order, but never did anything with cyan, gray, black...
We need an ability to set up our own order for these colors.
We need to be able to store these as presets, so we can switch these.
We need a way to make a certain order preferred in a template or a document profile.
We need an ability to remap current colors for layers to any other chosen preset order, top deal with imported files.
We need an ability to lock a certain color as a constant default ones, for those who need a single edge color, but many layers.
We need a way to ask Illustrator to automatically pick a color based on the layer’s content, to contrast nicely with the art within.
We need a dynamic 'difference' color, so that an edge could pop no matter the content (except for grays, sadly).
We need an ability to pick these color no only using ugly OS picker, but our own swatches.

「中央に整列」を実行したときに、座標の平均ではなく選択範囲の中央に揃えたい / Align to center of selection instead of average of coordinates when "Align Center" is executed

In Illustrator on desktop, select multiple objects, and in the "Align to Selection" setting, execute "Vertical ( or Horizontal ) Align Center".
The objects will then be aligned at the average of their respective center coordinates.
However, the same operation in Illustrator on iPad produces a different result. The iPad's "Align Center" aligns the object at the center of the selection (bounding box), rather than at the average of the coordinates.
As far as I have confirmed, Photoshop and InDesign also have this specification.- It is difficult to infer from the name of the "Align to Selection" option that it will be aligned with the average of the coordinates.
- It is more intuitive and easier to imagine the result if it is aligned to the center of the selection, as in the iPad version.
- It is not good to have the same functionality on desktop and on iPad, but with different results on each.
- Alignment to the center of the selection is also used in other Adobe products.
For the above reasons, I would like the Illustrator desktop version to change the specification to align to the center of the selection.

Support for Windows 64-bit (ARM64, e.g. Snapdragon X Elite) devices (including Copilot+, Surface)
Illustrator and Photoshop support for ARM64 devices would be great. I own a Surface Pro X and would love to continue using Core Adobe apps on that device. 32 bit performance is quite poor.
41 votesIllustrator is now available as a native Windows ARM build in Beta — previously it was limited to some setups via x64 emulation through Windows on ARM's translation layer.
Now it’s been compiled and is running directly on ARM64, no emulation.
Key differences
- ~30% performance gain vs. the emulated build
- Lower CPU/battery footprint
- A proper base for further ARM-specific optimizations
Known limitations
- Third-party plugins: Not currently supported. The team will share SDK availability details soon.
- CC Libraries panel: Not supported in this build. The panel will not appear in the panel list.
- AutoCAD (DWG) files: Real DWG format is not supported.
- Version History panel (cloud documents): Panel does not refresh after saving. Workaround: close and reopen the document.
- Encrypted PDFs: Not supported.
- The "Use Precise Cursor" setting is not imported correctly when importing preferences.
Please try to update from your CCD app and give it a go!

More toggle buttons in top row / panel full of indicators
You know, AI has a lot of options that can be turned on and off.
And some of them switched on and off quite often: Snap to Grid, to Point, to Glyph, to Pixel... Guides, Smart Guides, Edges (can be both locked and / or hidden), Artboard Edges, Corner Widgets, Bounding Box...Of course, all of them can be accessed via View menu, but you just don't see them there! Users need no only SWITCH them, but KNOW what current state is.
Are my guides are turned off or I've deleted them or moved occasionally?
I want to draw a complex thing — is my grid's snap is turned on or I need to do it before I start?
And so on.What about Use Preview Bounds? Hidden in Preferences.
What about, Transform Pattern Tiles?
Scale Strokes and Effects and Scale Strokes are duplicated in Transform, but that’s it.So we need indicator switches.
And ideally we should choose ourselves which buttons we want to put there. You've started understanding it, when added these to Properties panel.
But you take them away from those who don't use this panel. And yet you have a perfect place for these switches, in fact you already sort of using this place! It's right next to the rocket GPU icon.
Put grid-snaps-widgets-indicators there, so we can always know what our current useful limitations are.Sure, this would make it seem like it’s an app level thing... at the same time we have Control panel and it’s above documents’ tabs anyway.
Yes, you can make it a separate horizontal panel, but it will eat up the vertical space... you can put it in Control, but it’s full and we can’t make one sections of it to take priority over others.Still we need it!

Customize Properties, allow to customize Quick Actions
Love the new Properties panel and the Quick Actions feature. But sometimes I need to do some actions that had disappear from the old toolbar like select objects with the same fill color...
It will be nice if I can add or remove some actions based on what I usually do.41 votes -
Asset Export - Ability to reorder asset list view and group items
Asset Export - Ability to reorder asset list view:
Love the asset export, but it'd be really useful to click/drag change the order of my asset list in Asset Export panel.
It would also be great to have an option to group by art board. When I have a file of 20+ ad variants as their own individual artboard and want to export assets, it's a pain to keep track of things. It's also too bad that if I make a new asset later in the process, there's no way to group that asset next to the others in the same artboard, it's stuck at the bottom of the list.

File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, to have even faster PDF export options
Starting with build 28.6, we can now Export As PDF (thanks to this request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32841790)
This works alongside with a pervious lesser known method: Save a Copy, as PDF.
However, exporting a PDF copy to make a quick 'snapshot' still feels slow — we get a dialog and have to choose a preset we want to use.
Meanwhile InDesign offers a handy configurable menu that allows to skip format options and go with a chosen preset, like the attached screenshot shows.
Please make a similar menu.

Option to disable Rotate View
I think the new rotate view update is great if you want to work from multiple angles. But I’ve found it extremely difficult to work while using my trackpad because when ever I zoom in on my projects rotate view is automatically triggered and I have to keep going back to reset my view. As someone who works on multiple art boards at once this happens in a smaller span of time which tends to become annoying after a while.

Precision for Wacom in illustrator is absurdly painful! Can't select nodes! This has been a bug for ages!
Improve Wacom support! Using even the latest wacom intuos pro it's impossible to select a node when drawing as it expects you to hit the exact pixel... Who can do that!!!!!

Advanced Rename Tools for Artboards with Find & Replace
Would love to have a feature that allows a mass-rename feature to artboards the same way you can rename files in Mac OS: Add Text, Replace Text, Format. As a designer who exports many artboards for the web and is constantly renaming file version numbers for easy export - this would be a dream!

Show number of selected objects
It's amazing nobody asked for this.
Just use that bottom filed that can show artboard name, current tool, etc, for saying how much objects user has selected.
If you are as lazy as you are implementing user requests — make just this. But make it better and allow this field to show several things instead of one. And add artboard number there.
40 votesAs per the comment, this value is available in the Window > Document Info panel, when Objects option is picked in the panel’s flyout menu

Notes Feature
Create a notes panel to write notes for yourself, the next person working on your file, the print house, etc.
The notes would pop up first thing when you open a file, and can be printed, amended, deleted etc... they could be print instructions, or time logs, or anything deemed of value to associate with the document.
These notes would travel with the document.

Creative Cloud Files appear in Library Panel in Illustrator
Currently folders and files in the Creative Cloud Files folder are local and synchronise with the cloud. They are visible on the website but are separate from Creative Cloud Libraries that we use inside Illustrator. It’s tantalisingly close to being an awesome feature, yet…
Please join them up! Make creative cloud files visible in the libraries panel in Illustrator, and vice versa; and make the libraries available locally.
