export for screens, select: none
When I 'Export for Screens' and have loads of artboards I can select 'All' as a checkbox.
It would be good to be able to select none - instead of clicking the dozen or more select boxes to un-select artboards.
This would save heaps of time - its annoying not to have it.15 votes -
Rotate artboard with all objects, when the orientation of artboard changes or directly on canvas
It's possible to rotate the artboard, but the objects are still on their old positions.
I found the is a button to bind artboard and objects for MOVING the artboard together. Why does that not work for rotation? In the mean time I have written a small JavaScript to solve this: https://www.behance.net/gallery/125369255/Javascript-for-Illustrator-RotateArtboard
I hope, we can use a rotation of an artboard with it's objects soon in AI.

Pan tool wrap
When you pan with the mouse button/wheel held down, the panning stops when the cursor reaches the monitor edges. This forces user to release mouse, move it all the way back and re-grab it.
In some other editors you can continue to move the pointer and it will 'wrap' around your monitor, going from the opposite side of it, until released.Basically you can pan until you reach the end of your table.
This mode will help those who have to work at scale and pan without unzooming. Please, add it!

Make Keyboard Shortcuts and Action panel both see shared conflicts
You can assign F-keys to panels in Keyboard Shortcuts.
You can assign F-keys to actions in Actions.
But they know nothing about each other. When you try assign a combination that is already taken by another command, Keyboard Shortcuts window will warn you and give ways to solve the conflict... but not if the F-key-combination is taken by an action — it knows nothing about actions.
Same with Actions panel — it knows nothing about Keyboard Shortcuts and never warns you, if you try to set, say, Shift+F8, which will disable native Transform panel call.
Please let these two work in the same database and know about each other and warn users.
Also, please vote for these related requests:

Tie a child shape to parent shape to keep it aligned to parent when resized
Hi everyone,
I posted this as a question in the Illustrator forum (here's the original thread https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/set-shapes-as-child-and-parent-objects-for-dynamic-box-designs/m-p/11688904?page=1#M256580) and was suggested to submit this as a feature request here.
I design boxes in Illustrator for precise cutting in my Silhouette machine. The main problem I encounter with is when I make a box which its shapes are all perfectly aligned, but I then find that I need to tweak its interior size. When I'm doing so I have to re-align all the different pieces of the box shapes such as the spines, wings, etc, since there's no option to tie a shape to another shape as parent and child behavior which exists in 3d design programs.
As a workaround I'm currently making groups of the shapes I want to be keep intact, and after tweaking the interior shape size I then re-align these groups to the edges of the interior they were previously aligned to.
To describe it better I made 3 screenshots:
- The first is the original design of the box.
- The second is what happens when I resize the interior size of the front of the box, which makes it to overlap its child shapes.
- The third is what I'm after - when resizing a parent shape I want all child shapes to move in distance along with it, without changing their sizes. As for the child shapes that become shorter and need to be resizes to fit to the parent's new size, that is done manually. Keep in mind that a child shape is also a parent shape of another child shape as seen in the screenshots. So if a child shape is resized then its own child shapes should also move in distance along with it.
The arrows in the screenshots comes to describe what is a child object and what is a parent object. The base of each arrow is a child object and where it ends is its parent object.
Having an option to make child and parent behavior would make things much easier when tweaking a design. Or, having a built-in engine to make box designs that has more features specifically for box design would be even better. That engine could automatically adjust the child shapes height/width where a parent shape size is changed. Or even a material thickness preset that calculates the extra size of material needed in mm/cm for the bending of each flap of the box, which is added between the shapes automatically like a "safe zone".
There are external solution plugins for Illustrator like Esko, but I'd really like if Illustrator would have a built-in feature for box designs without paying for additional plugins. I'm still using my CS6 version since its a permanent license which I prefer better over subscription plans, and I am quite aware that if my feature is picked up for development then it would be implemented in the CC version and not CS6. Yet if that feature will be made then I'll re-consider the CC plans.
Thanks!

Allow docked tool panels to stack one under another
For now a docked tool panel takes the whole column, not matter how short it is. It forces us to clump all custom tools in one panel. Normal panels can stack any way possible.
Please, give us the possibility to dock tool panels in rows too. Also look related request about separators in tool panels:

Curve length, area, perimeter measurements for Dimension tool
We need a way to measure the length of a line regardless of shape, but at minimum we need a way to measure a basic curved line. It would be especially helpful if we could use the measure tool or some time-saving variant to tell if a curve has the desired length. While we can do a workaround now using the Document Info panel, having to isolate lines in order to do so can get really cumbersome and tedious.

RAL Swatch Library
RAL Swatch library. We don’t need this for print or screen, but it is necessary to mark a plastic or metal with RAL colour when documentation is sent to manufacturing. Do something about it.

Add DXF/DWG Export To Increased Canvas Size In Illustrator 24.2 (and later)
Would it be possible to add DXF/DWG as an export option for the new expanded max canvas size (Illustrator, 24.2 and forward). The increased canvas size is wonderful, however as someone who will move to-scale sketches from Illustrator into a 3D modeling program, not having DXF/DWG exports at the new max size makes the use of the new canvas size somewhat limited.

Path-to-path collision snapping
It would be incredibly useful to have, for example, two circles snap to each other not only at the anchor points but also at any point along the paths. This would help a lot when using Shape Builder tool, because at the moment most of the time you either get a tiny gap between the shapes (then the Shape Builder tool doesn't work), or the shapes overlap (then the Shape Builder tool leaves unnecessary anchor points which you have to meticulously fix).

Support SVG Tiny P/S
Support SVG Tiny P/S :: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-svg-tiny-ps-abrotman/
This is part of the work on BIMI (bimigroup.org), but we hope that this format will have a wider use case. It's a smaller profile than Tiny. The format may change in the future, but perhaps initial support could be created.

One tab-over between Width and Height in New Document window
In New Document window, I am used to typing a numeric dimension for Width, then pressing tab once to enter a dimension for Height. In the current version, if you press tab after entering Width, it goes to the unit of measurement first instead of to the Height. It feels unintuitive.

Allow Warp Effects to distort linear gradient
When you turn on distorting linear gradients (Object > Envelope Distort > Envelope options: Distort Linear Gradients Fill), AI still won't do it when you use Warp Effects (Effect > Warp). This should be fixed.
I'd even extend this option to treat other gradients types, not only linear.

Would be logical, doesn't it?
But nothing happens when double clicked.15 votes -
Delete unused empty layers
Would love to have the possibility to delete unused layers in Illustrator (like you can delete unused colors very quickly).
e.g. when you have 100 layers and only 10 layers have objects on them, but you don't want to delete every layer manually

Make Isolate work for components of a compound paths/shapes
Ai allows you to isolate a single path within document structure, but it only applies to groups. If you want to isolate a part of the compound path/shape — you won't be able to do it.
I fully understand that this requires Ai to decide what to do with art that is created at this isolation level, especially not ordinary paths: type, mesh, brushes... But this can be checked, both creation and pasting and dragging.
Speaking of compound shapes it would also mean that the boolean result will change.
Still, a very welcome feature.15 votes -
Warnings Popup Manager
Based on this request:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/40535569-add-don-t-show-again-option-to-error-dialog-forSometimes we need messages such as 'You locked art won't be moved' as warning messageboxes, and sometimes you'd prefer them don't interrupt you. While the 'Don't show again' seems like a good solution, the only way to bring it back when you switch to the task that depends on this error message, is to reset ALL warnings.
Meanwhile, Ai can display messages as popups — like the 'All assets exported' (in green 'confirmtion' color) or 'Shape expanded' when live rectangle/ellipse is modified (in gray neutral color). I like these a lot. What if you change these alert messageboxes into yellow/orange popups? And somehow give us a way to manage all messages in a list? Like, I want these to be messageboxes, those to show popup and others to never show anything.Based on this request:

Evenly space color stops within a gradient
Being able to distribute color stops inside the gradient panel.
E.g.: I want 32 stops on a single gradient bar.
Being able to evenly distribute them instead of picking a value on click and drag it (as it is really tedious or imprecise).15 votes -
ADD "Relink to Folder..." to the Links panel as in InDesign
We have long kept an asset folder named The__PIT that has 1 copy of every file that has ever made it through Production so that if we bring up an InDesign IDML or INDD from any time in our history, ALL links are immediately restored using "Relink to Folder...". We need this same functionality with Illustrator. I understand that InDesign is a data based software and Illustrator is not. I also see that Illustrator does retain the file name though (which, as is noted in many other similar requests, does nothing as far as selecting a match within a CC Library)... Anyhow, isn't this enough info already to incorporate a one at a time "Relink to folder..." task? Definitely faster than relinking one at a time through a chooser. And still could be done all at once with a delimited internal array of multiple selected file names.
ThePIT has been one of my favorite additions to our workflow. It keeps duplication to a minimum (asset either filed or in ThePIT), repopulates assets whether the indd is from 2009 or 2020, and it allows us to archive all our indd's as idml's which are like 20x smaller & we never have to worry about relinking thanks to "Relink to Folder..." & The__PIT!
Illustrator layouts are becoming more popular at our agency and to have this functionality added to Illustrator would greatly improve efficiency, get all team members to adopt the same workflow, and free up tons of space compared to dev that is package based.
Our agency isn't large enough and doesn't have enough free people time to merit a full Adobe DAM solution. We are small & nimble AND outputting 5x the content we were capable of 5 years ago with the same number of staff, thanks in part to The_PIT and some other scripts and procedures I've implemented.
My agency closely guards the workflow methods I've enacted as they give us a clear advantage over other agencies. Our clients say as much.
Diminishing the gap in cross functionality between Adobe applications is crucial. The same features will never equate to the same usage. The Adobe apps are differentiated as much by personal preference, if not more, than anything else. It's only when a project in an app can't do something that's possible in another & moving the elements to the other app doesn't help either that the software shows its weakness. You can't copy and paste or drag and drop a placed graphic with a broken link from Illustrator to InDesign and retain a link that could be resolved by "Relink to Folder..." You can't do "Relink to Folder..." in Illustrator. There's no efficient resolution.
As to why I wouldn't just select "Relink..." and browse The__PIT...
That folder has thousands of files in it, it takes a seriously long time for the files to display in Finder. And sometimes, either by fault of OSX or Adobe's browse, the files don't display at all. You get the same result in InDesign if you try "Relink..." BUT with "Relink to Folder..." it's nearly instant. Even a document with more than 100 images. I guess it's the difference between Browse and relink compared to the data action of "GET in this folder, the file named this" which happens with "Relink to Folder..."Please respond with comments.

Duplicate File
Like in Photoshop, I'd like an option in Illustrator to duplicate the entire file, opening the duplicate in a new tab.
