  1. Apply For Digital Cutter To Connect With AI Format Cutting File Directly

    Hi, Good day!
I'm David Jia from Sinajet Tech. We are a digital cutter manufacturer for sign industry.
More our customers have AI format cutting file, now they need to transfer AI to DXF, and send DXF file to our digital cutter for cutting process.
We hope our cutter can connect with AI format cutting file directly. Once I get AI format I/O or a DLL, then our digital cutter can work with AI format cutting file directly. It will be more convenient for customers.
Please kindly let me know how to proceed.
    If you have any other…

  2. Move "Share on Behance" and "Save for Microsoft Office" and add Quick Export

I do a lot of "rapid fire" exporting as I work mostly on card games in Illustrator. So a small change on 50-75+ cards requires me to (File, Export, PNG, Use Art Board, Overwrite, PNG Options, Ok) 50-75 times. Most annoyingly in this process, is when my hand slips and I click on Share on Behance or Save for Microsoft Office when I'm trying to Export. I think these options should be moved to their own category under "File" because I've never exported straight to Behance (I always export then upload separately if at all) and Save for Microsoft Office…

  3. Allow for negative value input and Option click with Line Segment Tool

The original idea by Johan Perjus, from https://medium.com/design-bootcamp/things-i-wish-adobe-would-address-with-adobe-illustrator-4796a89e1bae

As you may know, holding down the Option key and clicking on your artboard with any of the shape tools (Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon, Star) creates the shape centered on where you clicked, as opposed to the right and down from where you clicked. Please also apply this function to the Line Segment Tool as well as allow for negative value input in order to create the line in the opposite direction of the current angle value, just as you can enter a negative value to move an object in the opposite direction…

  4. Correctly include vector objects from previous Illustrator version files

A customer file created in CC 15 MAC and (according to tech support) using a CS/3 template does not open properly in CC 18. a group of objects appear as a missing linked file rather that the actual objects. However CS/5 opens the file and placed the vector objects inside a clip mask properly, allowing access to the vector path information. Why would CC18 not have the same capability? Worse, why would it confuse the issue stating a linked file is missing? The vector info is obviously in the file (since it appears in CS/3 and CS/5, get that…

  5. Export large artboards to PNG using high (300 dpi) resolution

Currently, files with large artboards (larger than 6535 px x 4730 px) can not be exported as a PNG with high resolution. The best is a medium resolution. My current project series requires a specific large artboard size (9075 px wide x 6201 px high exactly) and I would like to be able to export and then print them in high resolution to give my customers the best possible printed product. Illustrator does not currently support this, unfortunately.

  6. Preferences for layers panel

Obviously there are a lot of ideas and requests for the layers panel because everyone wants to customize it for their own uses. Adding a bunch of options in the preferences panel would be better than a lot of "permanent" changes.

I don't like the fact that every element is on a separate layer at all, for my projects it is not necessary. In InDesign I get to choose what elements are on which layer - that would be sooooooo nice in Illustrator

  7. Adaptive Shapes

Adaptive shapes would be shapes that can change size according to the amount of text inside of them.

It makes having a highlighted text effect a lot easier. A rectangle with text inside it can stretch as you add more words.

Maybe a bit harder but it’d be cool if it can be applied to more complex shapes like a speech bubble shape, while retaining the ability to customize the notch and corner radius.

Doing any of this precisely and manually is not easy

  8. Copying a layer in a multi-layer file does not put anything on the clipboard for SVG

Select the top layer in a multi-layer file
    Copy it to the clipboard
Use a clipboard viewer to display the "Scalable Vector Graphics" format

Expected Result: Well-formed SVG content to be on the clipboard.
Actual Result: The clipboard has no data for the format, even thought it advertises it as being available.

I am a Microsoft engineer reporting this on behalf of a customer who is attempting to paste a layer from Illustrator into PowerPoint as SVG.

  9. Properly viewable and properly printable files NEEDED!

When creating a final file from Illustrator for a printer, I change type into outlines so that there will be no font problems. Then I save as a PDF. The PDF is VERY inconsistent in how it shows straight lines of letters. ie: lower case "L", cap "I", hyphens, dashes, and other letters with "straight" lines -- p, d, M, etc. The pdfs look terrible unless you blow them up very large. AND when you print them out, you can also see the differences in thickness of the letters on different printers. Questions: How do I tell my customer…

If a PDF file is viewed in Acrobat, one can disable the option which tries to make thin lines fatter in Preferences > Page Display > Enhance Thin Lines.

This is something viewers make to deal with the now-unhinted results outlined fonts. With properly prepared PDFs outlining is not necessary and cause more problems than solves.

  10. Please make a user manual / user guide available online

Why isn't there a functional and useful user manual or user guide available online?

The lack of issuing any type of user guide is a huge missed opportunity. It seems this task has been Offloaded to the Adobe community. Adobe used to consider its customers/clients ones who deserved professional, well-organized, easy-to-use, comprehensive instructions and guides. Whatever happened to supporting those who put/keep you in business? I guess in the software business that's progress ...?

In today's digital/virtual world, it would be exceptionally easy to produce, share and update useful and robust supporting content. The current offering of tutorials…

  11. Designers are being asked to design for new end user media

Creating ways to take my vector to 3D, for 3D printing, CNC plasma cutting, and new ways that are being asked for designers and artist to file share and work better together. Exporting my work for auto cad, and 3D software, plotters etc and simplify the paths. There is 2D and there is 3D cad. But as an artist I want to be able to take what I have done in Illustrator and evolve my work and output options to and material to the next level. CorelDraw was just a play toy program. But it looks like they have got…

  12. Paint, Draw, Spatter on Vector like Raster for Visual Digital Artisans

It takes conversations like this to know what customers want to dive into if they see Adobe, & for years I tried but run away from Adobe, it was extreme, even Illustrator. It didn’t feel like the art drawing, medium, etc.

I grew up learning. No one grew up as a child to use Adobe. But they can if it feels like it on screen. You are #1 and growing too, my voice hopefully adds more light that.

Combine easier icons that newbies know, more raster in style (Rebelle, Artrage), but Adobe all in one vector that combines the…

Can you make clipping easier and automatic depending on what you have selected perhaps with a key command?

  14. MAJOR PROBLEMS!! Cache/Scratch NOT assigning to my selected Drives

No matter how many times I un-install and re-install Illustrator, the program WILL NOT ACCEPT when I select a destination to my specific and dedicated Cache/Scratch SSD. I have a permanent studio setup with the latest MacBook Pro 64GB of RAM.. Everything was custom built the best it could be in April of 2020. The second I open Adobe Illustrator, my Available RAM goes from around 55GB to 124MB?!!!!!!! I know it's a RAM heavy program but that is insanity. Nothing is that heavy or works like that. Its forcing a notice to pop up from my Mac saying that…
