Using Rotate / Reflect / Scale tools with Opt/Alt held doesn’t end the operation when Wacom pen gets lifted
I use illustrator CC 2017.
I use my Wacom Intuos for almost everything since it is easier and I am comfortable to it than using mouse.
I use Rotate tool to copy objects in circle with a center point (select Rotate tool, hold Alt and click to choose the center of the object) .
When I use Wacom tablet to achieve this, the Center point keeps floating with the mouse pointer. I have to use my mouse to click to set a center point.
I have used it in multiple computers and with other Wacom devices too. I am not sure if its a bug, but it would be really great if you could fix it :)
Thank you for reporting the issue. We have added the issue to our backlog.
With Best Regards,
Raghuveer Singh

@Egor, using Wacom tablet. I forgot to mention that.

Can't replicate in 22.1. I'll vote anyway just to track it.

Copy by Rotate Tool, Repeatable Bug
OS: Windows 10
Illustrator Version: 23.0.1Steps to reproduce:
1. create a box or square
2. activate the Rotate tool (R)
3. click on any corner of the box to move the pivot
4. begin rotation
5. hold down ALT to initiate copy
6. release mouse to end rotation and complete copyExpected Result:
Copy of object created at rotation specified by tool.Actual Result:
At this point, illustrator will not release the copy and end the rotation. Attempting to select off the tool will not be allowed, as if a modal dialog is up. The only way to regain control of the application is to attempt a force quit from the operating system level. This will force a save dialog, cancelling it will return focus to the application and allow the user to proceed.Workarounds attempted:
Preference Folder removal and recreation.
Reinstall and update.
Disabling of GPU acceleration for Illustrator.None have any effect on the problem.

I got this problem too. The only way to do Alt click rotate is View using CPU. I have to hit Ctrl E to change back and forth between views. This is really inconvenience. Hope Adobe can somehow fix this problem soon. Bug as of December 2018.

I had this problem, too, it was so annoying!! But found the solution in this thread - https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/31240957-rotate-tool-alt-click-and-wacom-tablet
I turned GPU Performance off per others' recommendation. It worked for me. Here are instructions for that -

My rotate tool when used for copying with or without my wacom, starts sticking, and the object just keeps moving with my cursor. My only fix is restarting and hoping the app saved my recent changes. This is hindering me from doing BASIC and Simple things like copying a custom shape and maintaining the circular composition. I was trying to make a unique cycle like shape. I put the rotate point in the center and i was attempting to duplicate that shape inside the circle but instead of copying or doing anything, it just kept rotating even after i let go of the alt(copy key). This has been happening to me for weeks now. Please help :'(

OK. I think I figured it out on a PC. Go to outline mode (ctrl + Y). Click the rotate tool, move the rotation center to where you want. Hovering and Alt +Click on rotation center will show up the double arrow for duplicate function. Then, Alt + click a second time for the 3 dots to show and the Rotate tool box will appear. Hope this works for you!

I have the same problem. Alt + click Rotate does not work on my PC illustrator at work. I was trying to use it on my PC laptop at home at it didn't work. I thought it was just buggy cause my laptop is slow. I have a new computer a work and it doesn't work. I think this function works more smoothly with MAC computers. :( Can you pls fix this bug adobe??
