I'm working in the newest version of Illustrator. Since I've updated, the distribute objects in the align palette has stopped working correctly. I used to be able to select numerous objects and space them out in whatever size increment I chose. When I select all, then select my target object, I enter my measurement in and instead of spacing them out how I want, Illustrator butts all of the objects up together with no spacing. I am so fed up with constantly having my normal tasks, that I've performing for years now, stop working or work incorrectly. I don't know what Adobe is doing but it's NOT working! please fix this issue! It is slowing down productivity!

Oh, thank you!!!! It must have changed the default when I updated. So glad it's not broken and I'm a little embarrassed that it was that simple. I'm good with computers. Completely missed this one. Thanks!!!!

Is it that you change to Align to Artboard but does not retain that and switches to Align to selection?

I would like to report this as a bug also. When I select an object and click the align objects button, nothing happens. I've tried creating a new object, restarting AI and restarting my computer. It was working before I updated to version 22.0.1 last night. It is a feature I use a lot, most commonly align center horizontally and/or vertically to the artboard.
