Colors in vector art cannot be changed unless all old swatches are deleted first
If I want to change certain colors in a vector illustration, I cannot just go into edit colors > recolor artwork and change them. I must first delete the original swatches and then change the colors or else the colors will revert back to their original values. I think that old swatches should be unlinked from artwork if they are changed.

Can’t reproduce this today. Even global or spot color swatches don’t prevent the artwork from being edited and have the changes applied when using Recolor.
If you still have the problem today, please share a text file, a small video with the exact steps made, along with the details of your build and OS setup.
