Some shortcuts don't work while using non-English keyboard / language layout
After upgrading to AI 26.0 (and still not fixed in 26.0.1) some shortcuts stopped working, like those:
- Show/hide layers = cmd + ;
- Lock selection = cmd + 2
It seems that all shortcuts with czech letters on the keyboard instead of US are affected. To be clear:
- On us keyboard there is ";" key, but on the Czech keyboard, there is "ů" letter.
- The same for the letter "2" on US, on the Czech keyboard, there is "ě" letter.
Possible fix: to keep logic as before, when everything worked, you have to work with hardware codes of keys instead of language translated.
I can confirm, that now to show/hide guides I have to push three keys: cmd + option + ; to activate the shortcut, so it's definitively affected by locale translation of the current keyboard map. Please, fix it and keep shortcuts work the same as for the last 20 years :)
I literally cant work.
Thanx
Maxim

I have the same problems with the Polish lang. characters.
E.g. Using `alt + e` only results in starting export command, but it should be `ę` -

Not fixed in version 27.0.1 (MacOS Ventura). This issue is really annoying and is seriously disrupting my workflow. After communicating with Adobe, they identified this issue as on their end, but they seem to have given up after a week of investigation.
It is Adobe's task to come up with a proper solution asap.

Hey friends,
on my mac (12.1), my keyboard shortcuts aren't working. I'm talking about moving objects forward and backward, fully forward and fully backward. Where could be the problem? I am talking about the CS (Czech) version of the keyboard and the Czech version of illustrator 22. -
Disinterest — yes. Discrimination — hardly. Ignorance — most probably. That’s what UV is for, to highlight rare issues, not only for pushing major problems (because there are not many French who voted). At least I hope this place to be one.
Thank you for adding a vote to NBSP problem, by the way. And thanks for the input. I really wish for both problems to change, all problems reported here. This particular issue is under re-re-review already. -

Hi, I have the same problem with Czech layout which I never had. For example CMD+shift+] and similar hotkeys are not working. I need to switch to EN keyboard layout which I never hat to do.

Egor, if Adobe programmers ignore the existence of keyboard layouts other than English (and this is not the only case, I come across similar mistakes in the forums quite regularly), it is discrimination.
Maybe the problem of these keyboard shortcuts comes from ignorance, maybe from arrogance and unwillingness. But it's a long-standing attitude that disadvantages users who don't use the English UI.
French necessarily requires non-braking-space because of their « quotation marks », Illustrator has ignored this French cultural specificity for perhaps 30 years. It's not for lack of information, I personally first reported the bug in maybe 1999, maybe 2000, and I'm sure I wasn't alone. Last year I addressed this problem directly with representatives of the programmers from India at the ATypI online conference. The result? Absolute disinterest. What else but discrimination is that? -
Ah, OK, this is why this report looked familiar to me.
Thanks again, I am merging these and informing the engineer that is aware of the cause of the problem. And this not about Czech specifically. I have a related problem with hardcoded Color/Gradient/None keys, ,,./ symbols in the bottom row at the right. When I use Russian input, these turn into бю. — and None becomes Gradient for me. Is it discriminative? No, it's not an 'unjustified distinction', it has a certain technical reason, in your case — a bug, caused by extending functionality with F-keys.
Hope both problem get fixed soon.

I confirm, the shortcuts do not work in Czech locale and with Czech keyboard. No way to remap them.

Egor, I'm afraid the only way to fix some bugs is to overdo it a bit. But in this case it indeed is discrimination, it's about ignoring users who have a different keyboard than the progammers. This bug has of course already been reported (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/41981506-keyboard-shortcuts-not-working)
The default shortcuts refer to glyphs [ and ] which are not easy to access on the Czech keyboard. We have ú and ) on those positions. I can remap [ to ú in the Keyboard Shortcut panel, but it has no effect whatsoever.
I think I don't have to add all four keyboard shortcuts work well in Illustrator CS6 and CC2021. It is a problem of the pathetic CC2022 version. And there are more problematic keyboard shortcuts, those mentioned above are just the most annoying.

Filip, do you know what Hanlon's razor principle is?
'Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity'.
There is no implied discrimination in what happens with Czech hotkeys, and assuming that this is specifically against Czech users is not true. What keys do you use for Send To Front/Forward? Default ones or custom?
Non-breaking space is just broken, for all users, and there is a specific request to make it work: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/35809120-non-breaking-space-nbsp-should-work — please vote there.
Anyway — thanks for reporting it. I have to change the header of the report, to help other users who have same problems to find it. And no, this is not because of discrimination.

Why does Adobe discriminates certain communities?
Adobe says that "core values are diversity and inclusion". But it also discriminates against non-English keyboard users and non-English language users.
As a Czech keyboard user, why can't I change keyboard shortcuts? The "sendToFront" or "sendToForward" function does not work with the Czech keyboard, there is no way to enable the common shortcuts.
As a Czech language user, why can't I use "non breaking space" (U+00A0), which is essential for connecting one-character words with the following word? This is important because of respect for the centuries-old Czech typographic tradition of not leaving single-character words at the end of lines.
Why do you talk about diversity and inclusion while discriminating against users from a nation of 10 million people? -

Unfortunately, no. On version 26.0.1 didn't work. I like default hotkey, but did work :(Looks like something is wrong witch typing key "/ú" witch Czech keyboard. (picture in attach)
If I switch system keyboard to US works fine. -
There was a bug with the 'č' key, fixed in 26.0.1... Have you tried the most recent build? Does it fix the issue for you?
