OMGoodness! I have a customer that has this issue and it was a huge hinderance in her workflow. I could not recreate on any other Mac I had access to. It turns out I don't normally have the Control option on. By toggling it on I was able to recreate the blank preview. I also noticed that you don't have to toggle it off if you "undock" for lack of better term your working file. Basically I just grab my file window by the file name in the window and separate it from being nested with the tools and the preview is fine even with the controls being active in the background. I'm hoping this will help Adobe get one step closer to fixing it.

PNGでページを範囲指定して書き出す際プレビューにデザインが表示されなくて困っています。
稀に表示されますが基本表示されません...

I have the same problem with Illustrator 29.1 on Apple Silicon (M4 Max) on Sequoia 15.2 in January 2025. Just like everyone else, it appears as a white or transparent checkerboard box in the correct aspect ratio. It does it whether Export As... has "Use Artboards" selected or not. It exports just fine.

At the end of 24 the problem was still not resolved I have the same issue, I think it was just for devices that have Apple silicon M1 / M2 / M3 SHIP

This is still an issue in Illustrator 2024 and the new 2025. The export itself is fine. Can this be fixed, please?

When using the 'Export as…' PNG function, the thumbnail now shows no preview, just a blank box. This feature stopped working in Illustrator 28. Worked fine in Illustrator 27.9.5

I have the same problem. I mostly export my png with file -> export -> export as... and since some weeks (after I updated Illustrator) the preview is empty for all kind of files.
The export itself works but mistakes in the export settings I can now only see afterwards.
I hoped that this problem is now solved with the newest update but it's still there.

I have the same problem - no preview image when exporting as .png file. Has this been resolved?

Same bug on my end - files export perfectly fine, but it is a bit frustrating not seeing the preview as normal. I've tried all types of export settings to no avail.

My preview is blank but so is the export.

Martin, what about the actual file generated — is it OK? Rendered correctly?
Does you artwork by any chance have opacity masks or linked/placed images?
Does it happen for this file only or with others or brand new files?
