Error in Startup Script - Line 2798: { No matching closing brace found
I am getting an error on launch of Illustrator, seems to have begun with the latest update.
Error in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Startup Scripts CC/Adobe Photoshop/photoshop_v2025.jsx
Line 2798: {
No matching closing brace found
The error can be dismissed and the application runs fine after that.
Note that this is an error reffering to a startup script named "Adobe Photoshop", but the error comes up when launching Illustrator. Interestingly, there is no error when launching Photoshop.
This is a new bug
Running on a MacBook Pro, 16 inch, Apple M1 Max running on Sonoma 14.6.1
Illustrator Version: 29.4
This is an Adobe machine, I am an Engineering manage in DVA.
Feel free to slack me tbeauch for more info if needed
Thanks

The current workaround, shared in comments:
1. Uninstall Photoshop 26.5 (make sure to remove preferences)
2. Reinstall Photoshop 26.5

I posted this bug in InDesign forum, it’s an issue with the Photoshop update. Reverting a version then updating fixed it for me but not all.

How to Fix Photoshop Issues:
1. Uninstall Photoshop 26.5 (make sure to remove preferences).
2. Reinstall Photoshop 26.5.This will install the correct “photoshop_v2025.jsx”.

see this link for solutions.
https://www.sotheb.co.kr/Adobe/8720This error occurs when Adobe Illustrator scans the Photoshop Scripts folder for startup scripts during launch.
The error message indicates a warning that there’s an issue with the brace definition on line 2798 of the photoshop_v2025.jsx script file located in that folder.
Open the photoshop_v2025.jsx file from that folder using Notepad.
As mentioned in the error message, on line 2798 of the photoshop_v2025.jsx file, an opening brace { is present, but there’s no corresponding closing brace }. This is a syntax error caused by mismatched braces in the code.
The issue stems from a missing brace during code writing, and it can be resolved by adding the missing closing brace.
When making changes, note that the C:\Program Files (x86) folder is a Windows system folder where programs are installed. As a result, you won’t be able to directly open, edit, and save the photoshop_v2025.jsx file in that location. Instead, copy the photoshop_v2025.jsx file to another folder, make the edits there, and then overwrite the original file in its original location with the modified version.

The cause of this bug may be an update to Photoshop 2025 (26.5), not Illustrator.
In addition, this bug may or may not occur depending on the environment. -

Hello Adobe Support,
I'm encountering an issue when launching Adobe Illustrator 2025 on macOS. I keep getting the following error message:
Error in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Startup Scripts CC/Adobe Photoshop/photoshop_v2025.jsx
Line 2798: { No matching closing brace found
I’ve already tried the following troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists:Disabling the photoshop_v2025.jsx script
Resetting Illustrator preferences
Updating Illustrator & Photoshop via Adobe Creative Cloud
Reinstalling Illustrator
This error appears every time I launch Illustrator, and it seems to be related to a startup script for Photoshop, which might be loading incorrectly. Could you please assist in resolving this, or let me know if a patch is available?System Details:
Illustrator Version: 2025
Photoshop Version: 2025
OS: [Your macOS version]
Thank you for your help!
