Large images scaled down too much (with resolution larger than 7200 ppi) become immovable
I'm not able to move images in my design. If I click image trace and make the image into a vector then I can move it, but as soon as I rasterize it back into an image then I can no longer move it. I also am not able to click to select the image, I have to drag a box around it to select the image.
Things I've tried:
- Checked for update
- Restarted my computer
- Restarted Illy
- Restarted Illy while pressing shift-options-command
- moved the file to my desktop (off of external drive)
- cleared storage, incase my scratch disk was getting full
None of these have helped.

Sometimes these do get moved at 7200, sometimes it’s very it stops already. 7201 is always a no-go.
-
Linked images that have the effective resolution more than 7200 ppi exactly can’t be moved with a drag.
I tried several PNGs and JPGs... 7200 exactly or lower — fine. 7201 — immovable (but selectable, etc.). -
Please share more details whenever it happens again: size, dimensions, file type, etc.

They werent super large images, and it happened in multiple different files. It seems to work only if I click on the bounding box to move the objects, not in the center of the picture.
-
David, how large is the image’s size (in pixels, the original size, not in the document), and how small it is in the document?
What type of the file is it?
When you check the Links panel with this images selected, what PPI value does it have in the Link Info section?
There was a problem with moving super large images, reported here — https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/50193525 — this might be a similar case. -

When I am selecting an image, I get a bounding box but then I can't move or transform the image at all. It acts like it is locked, but it isn't locked.

Thank you for your help!

Olivia, we reviewed the file you shared and confirmed that it was corrupted in Illustrator, which caused the artboards and objects to scale incorrectly. Unfortunately, the corrupted file cannot be repaired, though you may try copying and pasting the content into a new file as a workaround.
We’ve released version 29.8.1 that resolves the underlying issue with object and artboard scaling. We recommend updating to this version to prevent similar issues in the future.

There was a specific bug with extremely large images being scaled down — these refuse to get selected by a click, you’d have to draw a marquee to select them.
I’m not seeing the file sent, but I wonder if this is what’s happening and if the arrow keys would move these. -

I think that file might be corrupt. I don't seem to be able to recreate the issue in my other ai files.

I just sent the file, image and details to sharewithai@adobe.com. Thank you for your attention to the issue!

Olivia, how large is the resolution you choose when you try to rasterize the Image Trace result, and how large is the object (in the document units)?
Can you reproduce this behavior with a smaller tracing / smaller resolution?
Can you reproduce it at all with something different? Can you share the file along with the linked image you use (of it is linked) with the team, for studying?
Please attach these in a comment below if you are OK with sharing it publicly or send to sharewithai@adobe.com (in this case mention this report’s link — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/50417133)
