Illustrator 2026 adds a previously selected object to a newly selected one when moving the new one
macOS Sequoia 15.6
Illustrator 30.0
Just selecting and moving basic objects is not functioning correctly. Was this tested at all? I've restarted the app, I've restarted my machine. It's just buggy AF. I've had to revert to previous version just to get a simple chart done.

When selecting and moving individual points of a shape (with or without text) using the Direct Selection tool, other objects are also being selected and moved. The only workaround I've found is if I select the individual points and tap the arrow key or entering the exact X and Y coordinates in the Transform panel.

Thanks for the sharing the file.
We tried this at our end with the file shared and could not see the issue.
Are you running into this issue only for the shared file or a new file (starting from scratch) shows similar issues? -

Trying it with a zipped file ...

It doesn't appear to be attaching the .ai file, even though it shows up before posting. Open to suggestions to get the file to you.

Here's a file, Egor. This still reproduces the same behavior for me. I only have Snap to Point on.

This is odd!
I remember an old bug with random objects being randomly added into the selection, but it was long ago and felt different.
JQ, can you please share the file? Just these objects (but please make sure it'’ still reproducible when everything else gets removed). When I try to make it happen from scratch — it doesn’t happen for me.
Can you also say what are your snapping options are, just in case? -

Thanks for the quick response. I'm simply trying to move a line segment, deselect that, and moved a type-filled box. Even though the line segment is deselected, it moves when I move the box. Then undo doesn't work also.

JQ, can you show how it is broken exactly, on a video?
