Area type centering option not working, text jumps to top of frame
When creating text frame with area type (it is not threaded nor multiple columns) set to center vertically, the text jumps to the top and will not center align at all. This is a function I have used in 2025 with no issues and now it will not work at all in 2026.

I sent the file to the email you provided along with a link to this chat.
From my experience, when starting a new document the area type behaves fine.
But it can, suddenly, begin to show this awkward behaviour. -
I bet so... it looks familiar, I think I spotted another report like this... but in case it’s still a document-realted problem, please share your file, along with the font file used (if possible).

Egor, I think this is deeper than just round corners.
I've downloaded your file and it behaved as expected.
This also works right for me sometimes, then, sometimes, suddenly the text box stops behaving as expected. -

Same here, I'm on a Mac. I can briefly see the text align as it should but then it jumps to the top of the text box.

Can’t reproduce this in 30.1 on Windows.
I use very similar settings (and I assume Round Corners is an effect applied to the rectangle, correct?), but it looks as expected...
Please take a look at the document and the screenshot attached. Does it look the same when you open it in your Ai?
Can you share your file, if this only happens within it?
