Hitting Down with an artboard selected in Artboards panel now moves it on canvas instead of in the list
In the newest update, if I have an artboard highlighted in the panel and I hit the down arrow, it used to go down the artboard list. But now it nudges the actual artboard.
I acknowledge that nudging artboards could maybe be useful for something (though I can't think of what) but being able to navigate the list with arrows is much more valuable in my opinion.

Amazing! Yes, if I do Shift+O to select artboards, then hold Option while using the keyboard arrow keys, it works as I expect! Thank you!
Thanks for suggesting the scripts! Unfortunately I don't think they will speed up my workflow because I like my artboards grouped together (see attached) per ad. I do see how the script could speed up naming the artboards. I'll think on it.
Thanks for all your attentiveness and help!

It helps, sure, thank you!
You should hold Opt/Alt with arrows keys — these do what you mean (up/down work the same way as left/right). These worked since these got added, even before the panel happened (checked this now). And if you need not only to select, but also zoom into the selected artboard, you can use Shift + Page Up / Down... (adding Cmd/Ctrl would jump to start/end of the list — unlike with arrows, which is said).
Oh, you also asked for a better way to setup artboards... There are scripts you can try:
https://sergosokin.gumroad.com/l/abfromcsv
https://aescripts.com/multiple-artboard-generator-for-illustrator/Another method (free) would involve creating a lot of rectangles (an action can paste previously created paths with Insert Select Paths command from the panel’s menu), and later converting them all into artboards at once, with Object > Artboards Convert to Artboards command — but this would need to have the same layout (but you can record many actions for different layouts).
Please comment back.

Thanks for your response Egor! Here's a video showing what's going on for me: https://www.loom.com/share/1caa9c29bdc7448b8d4d2a31b263e32f
I hope this helps!
I'm on Mac OS 26.3

By Down arrow you meant the button in the panel, right? Not the keyboard Down arrow?
I check it now in 30.1.2 (but on Windows, though, sometimes it matters) and the panel’s buttons do the thing they used to.
The other bug you mentioned (jumping at top, now split, http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/51013837) is there, but arrows do move the selected item in the list, nothing moves for me on canvas... I also tested actual physical arrow keys, in older Ai builds — these never moved the item in list, but always move the selected artboards on canvas, in the artboard mode (with the tool picked) — as designed.Odd. Can you please make a short recording, a video or a GIF?
You are on Catalina, correct?
