Custom letter shortcuts are not displayed in menus on macOS (JIS keyboard)
Environment
Illustrator 2026 (30.0&30.6)
macOS 26.5.2
Japanese (JIS) keyboard
Issue
Custom keyboard shortcuts work correctly, but shortcuts using letters or symbols are not displayed in the application menus.
Numeric shortcuts (for example ⌘1, ⌘2) are displayed correctly.
Letter shortcuts (for example ⌘@, ⌥⌘R) execute correctly but are not shown in the menus.
The shortcuts are visible in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts and are saved correctly.
This appears to be a menu display issue only.
Steps to reproduce
Open Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts.
Assign a custom shortcut using a letter (e.g. ⌘@).
Save the shortcut set.
Observe that the shortcut works.
Check the application menu.
Expected result
The custom shortcut should be displayed in the menu.
Actual result
The shortcut works but is not displayed.
If the shortcut is changed to a numeric key (e.g. ⌘1), it is displayed correctly.

@edix
Thank you for testing this. We were able to reproduce the issue on a JIS keyboard.
I will report this to the team.
Thank you for your cooperation. -

Thank you for checking on Windows.
Could you also test this on macOS with a Japanese (JIS) keyboard?
I have reproduced the issue in both Illustrator 30.0 and 30.6.
The shortcuts work correctly and are visible in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, but only shortcuts using letters or symbols are missing from the application menus. Numeric custom shortcuts are displayed correctly. -
Works fine on Windows... any combination with numbers or letters get displayed fine (except for Select > Same > Object, which has a Unicode White Square □ in front of each displayed combination — these probably should indent the hotkeys to the right side, and it never happens)

This comment was upgraded into a new idea: Select > Same > Object menu has Unicode square is visible in front of hotkeys
