Subject: Illustrator Beta – Unexpected Crash When Using Pencil Tool with Command Key
Hello,
I’m currently using the Illustrator Beta version and have encountered the following issue:Issue Description:
After a recent update, the application crashes unexpectedly when using the Pencil tool (N) while continuously holding the Command key during drawing. This crash occurs without any warning, and none of the work is saved, resulting in repeated data loss.Steps to Reproduce:
Launch Illustrator Beta
Select the Pencil Tool (N)
Begin drawing with the mouse while continuously holding the Command key
After a short period, the application crashes without warning

- Is the issue still consistently reproducible on your end?
- Have you submitted the crash report via the crash reporter dialog, if one appeared?
- Could you share the machine configuration you’re using .
- If possible, a short screen recording demonstrating the issue would be extremely helpful.

The initial pivot for a Point Type text when Scale tool is picked is wrong
In the latest Beta 29.5.0.35 the default position of the pivot point for a Point Type text is not at its anchor point anymore, but at its center. This used to work fine just recently.
While this behavior CAN be an option for the Scale tool, it should not be hidden and given as a default one.
But I’d appreciate having it in the dialog when a text is selected.3 votesThe team has retracted the change they made to allow point type to behave like an object and snap by glyph bounds, like an area type would, and the pivot is now get placed at the type’s point again.

The program closed just when i just finished making the final details and normally when it closes for a bug it saves a backup automatically
I need back my archive, I just lost 4 hours investing time in that work and it closed without any explanation, normally when it closes it shows you a notification to fill a form of information but now it was nothing, like it didnt care at all.

Placed JPEG JFIF images are rendered as white
When I place JFIF JPEG images into Ai Beta 29.5.0.15, they get rendered as white.
Same images placed into GA build are rendered fine.

Major issues on MAC desktop with shortcuts and tools. Unusable actually.
Copy and paste is not working. Handles and boundaries are not showing. Things are randomly undoing steps. Zooming in randomly is happening. Most shortcuts don't work. I can not edit text, there is a lag and it never enters to let me edit it.

Collapsed panels won't open when clicked!
I keep some panels permanently expanded (eg. Character, Paragraph, Pathfinder/Align/Transform) with other ones like Transparency, Swatches etc. collapsed and tacked to the sides (see screenshot). When using 28.7.1, none of the collapsed panels will expand or respond to clicking any part of the panel. The only way I can expand them is to manually go into the Window drop down and click the name of the panel I need to expand.

Some tools don’t allow to snap the transformation pivot to the current selection’s own points using Smart Guides
The latest Beta 29.6.57
It seems like Rotate and Scale tools (and I suspect others as well) no longer see Smart Guides for the current selection’s own points — only of other objects. What’s wrong? All SG options are checked, as always for me.Still works as expected in the main build.

Asset Export Not Respecting Individual Assets
When exporting properly grouped and named assets in the Asset Export panel, SVG, PDF, JPG, EPS, and Ai files will export multiple versions of assets in the file, but PNG files export properly.

Frequent app crash due to an unknown reason
I lost 2 of my projects in Adobe Illustrator because the app closes suddenly and doesn't save the files even though it's set to save changes on all my files every 15 minutes. When I open the app once again it says "Adobe Illustrator just recovered from a crash". It repeats 2-3 times in a day and every time the file is lost or not recovered correctly. After the last crash my app stopped showing any images that I add to the file and stopped showing any actions I do with Illustrator tools. There is no ability to work on…

Can't type hex code in gradient dialog
In v28.6 -- After double-clicking a gradient stop to open color options, I am unable to enter anything into the hex code text box. May have resulted from me clicking out of Illustrator and back in while the gradient color dialog was open.

Typing text and changing color don’t get immediately updated on canvas
The work done is not visible instantly. I can see the changes when zoomed in. The preview section is not working properly.

Exported Asset from Photoshop PDF file in Illustrator Renders Incorrectly in Photoshop

When opening a Photoshop PDF in Illustrator, elements are recognized as Non-Native Art. When exporting an asset from this file using the Asset Export panel (see Screenshot-1.png), the resulting exported PDF does not display correctly in Photoshop (see Screenshot-2.png). I can't make a mockup.
The model option does not appear in the object menu. Also the mockup option does not appear in the Window menu. I don't understand why I can't see it even though I'm using the current version.
1 voteIn this case the Mockup add-on seemed to refuse to run with a non-English language used. If you have a similar problem — please try to switch the app language and reinstall both the application and the Mockup add-on manually through CCD. If it fixes it for you — please upvote and comment.

Performance operations are greatly affected by memory usage.
- The software has excessive memory usage upon startup, occupying about 1.2 GB, while CDR only takes up a few hundred MB.
- There is lag when continuously zooming in, changing, or copying content.
- The content consists of text and icons, with 60 artboards taking up more than 3.5 GB of memory, which is too much.
- The performance on a graphics card P1000 with 2 GB is not as good as CDR.
- There is room for optimization to make better use of multi-core and multi-threading capabilities.
