This might be my favorite addition in this update. I like how you guys put in the link option to increase speed if necessary. This definitely made things easier. Thank you.

Possible workaround for you guys that need to output jpgs or whatever for proofing. Convert the files to grayscale as the bug only effects 1 bit files. If you need the 1 bit file to be used as a knockout or overlay you can use "make mask" in the transparency palette. Anything that is black will be knocked out, while anything that is white will show.

If you need the 1 bit image to be a red (for example) instead of black you would make a red box the size of the image and place it below the image, then with both the object and image selected you would click "make mask" in the transparency pallete. This will give you the same look as applying a red swatch color to a 1 bit bitmap. You may need to invert the grayscale image (edit-edit colors-invert colors) depending upon how you want the artwork to look. Just remember black gets knocked out while white is visible. Here is an image from the original poster showing how I took the 1 bit image and converted it to grayscale and was able to get the same look without the bug. https://imgur.com/xrP4KmW

@sara bentley I have a workaround for you. Convert the distressed 1 bit tiff files to grayscale in photoshop. Copy the layer in photoshop and paste it in the Illustrator file. Select your artwork and group it together. Place the distressed artwork over the artwork where you want it (you can turn on multiply in transparency if you have trouble seeing because of the white background). Then with the artwork and distressed tiff file selected go to the transparency palette and select make mask. This will knock out any areas that are black or shades of gray showing the background color. The preview issue only seems to effect 1 bit files.

    Background:

    • CC libraries does not have support for Global Process Colors
    • Some users have spoken about InDesign – InDesign does not support Global Process colors
    • Illustrator does support process colors , global process colors and spot colors. The issue is specefic to global process colors – since it is not supported in CC Libraries. We have added the request to support in CC libraries backlog,

    Workaround:

    • Create Process colors in Illustrator and add it to CC libraries – deselect the global checkbox

@Ashutosh when do you expect a standard update through the could on this fix? I have a few clients that are scared to do any manual installing of a hot fix.

@Adam I have not had an issue printing to accurip. What are you using? Do you see a preview of the image in the print dialog box or is it blank there as well? I'm also able to print to a pdf so you could try using that as a work around, but honestly best to just stay with an older version of CC for now. I have gotten word they are working on fixing this, but it may take months before we see a release.

Yeah looks like they changed something with the GPU performance engine again. In the meantime go to edit - preferences - file handling & clipboard and check use low resolution proxy for linked eps. This will allow you to at least see something although it will look low res. Note you may need to move the artwork around for it to update the preview. Spots will still show up in the swatches like usual and it appears to still print properly so you're good there. It's just a GPU preview issue, so I'm sure Nvidia will be addressing this one real soon.

Totally agree with this considering you can force Acrobat to do it.

    Hi Everyone,

All the effect checkboxes have now been set to ON by default, and are sticky (meaning that if you disable preview, on next launch of Illustrator preview will remain disabled). This functionality now is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.

    What’s new in 24.1: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback.

Just a general status update. We are currently and will continuously improve SVG import support in Adobe Illustrator. We are currently working on solving the issues mentioned in this report. Please feel free to open new bug reports here on uservoice if you are experiencing additional/untracked issues.

It is not as straightforward as it may sound :) We have been working to take advantage of threads and other hardware such as GPU/Video RAM in places where it can make a higher impact. We are prioritizing areas that are slow instead of making a generic change and destabilizing the product. Product stability is the top priority for us and we have been consistently trying to improve it. We want to move with caution and make changes without compromising on the quality. Hope this helps.

Kate I'm going to add this onto your request since you're asking for the same feature.

I made a video regarding Creative Cloud Libraries requesting a couple of features as well as a few bugs I've discovered.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0ugcJ1O83w&t=9s

    Requests
#1: The ability to make the graphic you drag automatically become linked to the cloud. Similar to how it does when you make a symbol.

#2: Faster ways to re-link images on the cloud. It currently takes up to 5 clicks per image but could be simplified to as little as two (something like right click, re-link image would be awesome here). Also being able to re-link multiple images at once would be ideal. Currently only one image can be re-linked at a time on the cloud making re-linking multiple graphics painfully slow and tedious. There have been scripts made to re-link multiple images at once so I hope this is something adobe will end up adding into the software in the future.

#3: (Forgot to mention this in the video) The ability to make folders in the library so we can separate artwork more easily. Currently we can only view all images in the library in alphabetical order. I realize you can make multiple new libraries but this requires multiple invites when you are doing a collaboration and isn't practical. Being able to add folders like we do with files onto the library would be a huge benefit.

#4: Make other assets like colors, graphic styles, etc. sync-able just like graphics so that they can be edited and updated across multiple documents.

    Bugs
#1 editing and saving images sometimes tries to save locally rather than back on the cloud.

#2 colors added to the cloud do not copy info when transferring to swatches.

Maybe you guys can look at how Flexisign makes their document canvas size. With Flexisign it appears the canvas size is unlimited and increases based upon the artwork that is created in the file, as if it adjusts to the artworks bounding box, rather than having a set canvas size when the file is created like Illustrator does. For example in Illustrator when you make a new document it makes a canvas that is 227"x227" and then places an artboard or artboards inside that canvas, but with Flexisign when you create a new document it just makes the canvas the size of the artwork you place in it and grows as you need it with what appears to be no limitation. Bobby Henderson mentioned he saw a few issues over 200 feet but I never had an issue with Flexi while using it for years in the sign industry with any size. It was also much better at rendering very complex vector designs that would run really slow in Illustrator. I used to use Flexi to make edits for prints sometimes because it rendered the same art much faster.
