The team has encountered several issues with this feature. It requires them to change the basic algorithms and it is going to take them more time than anticipated.
While it still works in Beta 28.8.0.7, the next Beta build will have Inside/Outside aligned strokes for open paths disabled. The Beta is scheduled to be live on 7th of August.
Once this is ready to be enabled back, the team will update the status.

Latest versions of Illustrator have an exact solution for that.
Open Align panel, and enable Align to Glyph Bounds option in the panel’s menu, for point or area text or both.
The bounding box will remain the same, but the text will now align to and by its actual bounds, just like you want.
Please comment back if it works for you.

An error occurred while saving the comment nicky commentedis there an easy way to apply a series of effects by copying the settings from one element and applying them in another?
Could you simplify this step without having to create an object style?nicky supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment nicky commentedthe illustrator and indesign dropper work differently, one the opposite of the other.
I think that indesign is more functional, especially for copying text styles and applying them to multiple words ... If possible, adjust the dropper function that works like in indesign.nicky supported this idea ·
@Nitish Agarwal (Illustratore Team)
1. Reduce the track thickness display in outline / GPU view
2. Assign a keyboard command to the new bleed view. W button
3. Enable Smart Guides in bleed view
4. Increase zoom levels above 64,000%. The sò has just been increased, but for the precision of the design sometimes 64,000% is not enough
