2. Transparency Masks should appear in layers panel like Clipping Masks

   I like how Clipping Masks show up in the Layers panel as a "<Clip Group>", which you can expand to see the object being used as the mask and the object being masked. However, Transparency Masks do not show up at all in the Layers panel; you have to remember to open up the Transparency panel to see and interact with them. In a document with a mix of Clipping Masks and Transparency Masks, this is really confusing and makes the Transparency Masks easy to forget about. You should make the Transparency Mask show up in the Layers panel like Clipping Mask.

3. Ink Coverage tool

   Please add Ink Coverage Tool similar to one in Esko ArtPro plus, with ability to print a report. It's very important for printing houses to keep track of ink consumption and that tool would make great addition to AI, thus eliminating need for additional software.

   Please bring back FXG.
   SVG is no solution for coworking with complex files in Flash and Illustrator.
   Since years i've installed old cs6 version of Flash and Illustrator only for the FXG export / import.

5. Please increase the number of fonts in ”Recent Fonts” option

   I work with two different typeface families in daily base (since 1987 when I start with Illustrator). In preferences maximum value of recent fonts is 15. That is a half amount of what I need. Is it possible to increase that value to 30?

6. make one layer from more layers like in photoshop

   Hello, I would really like it if different layers could be used to create one layer, just like in photoshop.
   (so if you work with a lot of layers, and you repeat the design on the same page, or want to create a pattern, this doesn't work)
   I very much hope that this will be possible in the future

   You can do that using Layers panel’s menu (a hamburger icon in top right corner). Select layers you need and choose one of three available commands: Merge Selected, Flatten Artwork, Collect in New Layer.

   Also, you can operate with a selection of object on canvas. Select object you need there, focus a layer you want you objects to be in and apply Object > Arrange > Send to Current Layer.

   Finally you can drag a square marker of a selected objects in Layers to another layer to move them.

   Please comment on how it works for you.

7. Make 'Recent fonts' section in Character palette work alongside with selecting current font in font list

   Recently AI made focus in font list in Character palette jump to the top of the list, in 'Recent fonts' part, thus making impossible to browse fonts in alphabetical order — you have to scroll font list manually to position.

   This is stupid.

   In 22.1.0 this request has been realized:

   Now user can set '0' in Preferences to completely eliminate 'Recent' section in font list — and this magically 'fixes' selection of current font in context.

   I personally want to use BOTH 'Recent fonts' AND current font focusing.
   I don't care about it won't be selected in Recent: just show me chosen number of recent font options above the line (without selection), make it fixed (or make it go away right after I start scrolling) and select current font in the main list.

   Just like CorelDraw does it (see the image attached).
   Don't do as Microsoft Word does (it actually does it wrong too).

   The latest Beta Build 29.6.91 introduces first changes to the way how recent font section works. Now Ai tries to find the position of the currently chosen font in the main list.

   There are several known issues.

   • If you deselect a text and select it again — Ai will still jump to the recent section’s font when we open the dropdown
   • The recent section is not fixed and gets scrolled while navigating the list, making the access to recent fonts harder that it is now in the General build

   Please try to test it and leave comments.

8. Show the angle between two paths when dragging anchors

   A new feature I'd like to see is a Smart Guides tool tip which shows the angle that is created between two paths, when manually dragging an anchor.

   There could be the option of...
   1. ... always displaying the relative angle.
   2. ...only displaying the tool tip of common angles, such as 15, 30, 45, 60 degrees.

   In the attached mock-up, the bottom right-hand anchor of a square is being dragged to the right. The angle that is created relative to the top of the square displays as a tooltip, in this instance 33 degrees.

9. 矢印ツールとは別に「移動モード」を。

   オブジェクト選択後、特定のキーを押すことで「移動モード」に移行するようにしてほしい。

   複数のオブジェクトを選択し、それらを同時に移動させようとした場合、任意のオブジェクトを全て選択した後、最後にいずれかのオブジェクトを正確にクリックしてドラッグする流れになるが、この最後にいずれかのオブジェクトを選択する際に誤ってオブジェクト以外をクリックしてしまうと、今までのShiftを押しながら沢山選択してきた作業が水の泡になる。

   移動モードに移行すると、選択したオブジェクト以外を選択しても選択が解除されることはなく、心ゆくまで正確に移動を行った後、決定ボタンなりダブルクリックなりで移動モードは解除される。

   現在の編集モードの選択したオブジェクト限定版という動きにしても良いかもしれない。

   選択したオブジェクトの精密な移動方法としてこの「移動モード」の実装を強く要望します。

12. Improve compatibility of object's features between Illustrator and InDesign

    It's about 80% easy to share an object such as a logo or ad design or similar between the two packages, which is facilitated by the programs sharing an overlapping feature set.

    With some features, such as gradients (InDesign to Illustrator) and type (Illustrator to InDesign) there are serious problems and the feature either doesn't travel across or is corrupted in the process. These problems mean that some parts of your project will easily copy and paste (or travel via PDF export) yet others fail.

    It's not uncommon to use Illustrator as a publishing software for web assets and InDesign for print and use them as partners for that, so let's see if the overlapping features can fully travel between them, saving workflow and increasing confidence in the term 'Adobe Suite'.

13. Previous versions of illustrator showed the id of individual elements within layers in the layers window

    Previous versions of Illustrator would show the id of individual elements within layers in the layers window. Now they just show as "path" or "compound path." I generate maps as svg files from a database with a program of my own design and then import them into Illustrator for final editing. Sometimes there is a problem with one or more elements. Before I could go to Illustrator, select the problem element, and see in the layers window what its id was. Then I could go to my database and fix the problem. I can't do this anymore. I'm attaching a simple svg file as an example. Most of them have many more elements.

14. Allow to locally customize the assets from CC library within a document, similar to components in Figma

    I'm working for a company who makes workwear and we're having an issue with the creative cloud library.

    We've made al of these symbols in the creative cloud libraries, but we've seen that we can't manipulate these in 1 document.

    For example, we're making a coat.
    First we take the front out of the library, then the sleeves and a pocket.
    We see that it is impossible to change these objects in this new document.
    These drawings from the library are added in the document like pictures, that's why we can't colour them for example.
    We obviously don't want to change the symbol in the library, because that would change all the files where it is in.

    Maybe it's interesting to add an option like this in Illustrator, there would be much more possibilities in the future.

    The feature which allows you to align stroke to inside or outside of a path for closed shapes is fantastic and gives a great deal of dynamic help. Currently, the only way to align a stroked path and another shape is inaccurately with only visual cues or expand the stroked path and lose editability.

    I don't know if it has been suggested but a feature which allowed you to preserve a non destructive workflow and interact with shapes more easily is very much within reach. Simply create an equivalent for the align stroke to inside or outside of path for unclosed paths.

    The team has encountered several issues with this feature. It requires them to change the basic algorithms and it is going to take them more time than anticipated.

    While it still works in Beta 28.8.0.7, the next Beta build will have Inside/Outside aligned strokes for open paths disabled. The Beta is scheduled to be live on 7th of August.

    Once this is ready to be enabled back, the team will update the status.

16. Shortcut for Delete Layer

    I'd like a custom shortcut for deleting a layer. I could, of course, record an action and assign one of the F keys (F5, F6, etc), but I don't want to use the F keys.

17. Bug report form for illustrator should accept SVG attachments

    It's very difficult to share SVG bugs with you guys if your bug report form wont accept SVG. Couldn't even 7s it.

    I know this is not an Illustrator bug, but I have an illustrator bug which I can't report because your bug reporter is configured poorly. So that's why I am reporting it under this category. Please pass it on to the appropriate people on your web team.

18. Line extension pop up tool tip

    Please fix the smart guide's line extension tool tip when moving points if you are zoomed in. It currently snaps to the opposite end of the line, meaning if you are zoomed in (which you almost have to be because the tool is so finnicky to get it to snap correctly), you have no idea if you are extending the line correctly. A good fix would be to put that dialog closer to the point, if not on the point you are dragging out to extend, vs. the opposite end of the line.

19. Show "proxy" preview on placed PDF files instead of hi-res

    Just like you have "proxy" link for placed Photoshop.eps files - apply the same feature for PDFs. When PDFs are placed in IL as links, no-one needs hi-res preview of PDFs which causes super sluggish performance of IL. Anything you do in IL, is being slow cause that hi-res preview is on all the time. This feature allows you to place super big files (gigabytes) and handle them with ease. I just wish you can do this with PDF. All Adobe needs to do is use PDF thumbnail (option).

20. Keyboard shortcut to fit artboard to selection

    Currently you must have content selected to fit it to art board in focus. This workflow adds extra interaction cost by having to remember to first select before hitting the drop-down menu to fit it. Selecting the content and art board and striking a key command would make this a lot more efficient.

    Illustrator has two commands to fit artboards.

    One of them, 'Fit to Selected Art', requires a selection — obviously.

    The other one, 'Fit to Artwork Bounds' — does not, but works for the entire artwork.

    You can insert the one that you need in an action, using the 'Insert menu item...' command from the Actions panel’s flyout menu, and assign a hotkey to the action.

    However, I believe the request is not about a hotkey, but a way to let Illustrator to 'Fit to the contents of artboard' command? Please comment back to make it clear.
