   Let's look at the example user journey:

   In my workflow I am building an illustration of isometric sport games layouts.
   As Illustrator has an working area size limitation i am forced to keep the illustration in certain scale. and for smaller objects I have to create bigger versions of 3D elements, then through symbols/CC library scale them down. Otherwise the limitation in number of decimal places of the 3D effects doesn't allow me to keep the proper object shapes.

   The number of decimal places in Transform tool is 3 (minimum 0.001)

   The extrude Depth field has a soft cap for 2 decimal places and minimum value of 0.01 pt

   The Bevel Height for some unclear reason is limited to zero decimal places — 1 pt

   Both have to be 3 decimal places a minimum value of at least 0.01 pt

2. Hide contents outside of a clipping mask for the Selection tool

   Contents outside of a mask boundaries are still visible when using the Selection tool, so it's often tricky to select other objects behind. It would be great to have an option to just see objects within the boundary of the mask only with the Selection tool active.

3. Typesetting formulas, mathematical equations and symbols in LaTeX-style

   When typesetting mathematical formulas, LaTeX is the way to go and is the standard in many scientific areas. But a problem arises when mathematical symbols should be used in figures. If these figures are e.g. created in Illustrator, it is always a bit inconvenient to include the symbols in the figure. It is e.g. necessary to render the symbols separately and include them as EPS files in Illustrator or the symbols are added later to the figure by another program.

   It would be really cool to have a build-in feature in Illustrator which would allow direct typesetting in the common LaTeX-style. Ideally, symbols are typed as e.g. \vec{u}_i, the text area is marked as mathematical formula and are then transformed to the proper symbol with a setting for the font to use (e.g. Latin Modern).

   This feature might be realised in a step-by-step way: typesetting symbols in the $$ style is probably the easiest and most beneficial change for the user. Allowing separate equations in the \begin{equation} \end{equation} style would could be the next step.

   I see two main advantages of this feature:
   1. It improves efficiency a lot since it is much easier to include symbols and equations to figures.
   2. It allows to store related content together. The symbols used in a figure are part of the figure, so it is only natural to store both in the same file and edit it with the same program. This makes changes to the figure much easier since everything is located and edited at the same place.

4. The ability to select a vertical row within text to change color or make it bold.

   The ability to select a vertical row within text to change colors or style.

   We design a lot of restaurant menus, brochures, TV menus, and currently to make the items and prices have its own color or style, we either duplicate and erase items/prices to change color and style (bold for e.g.), or we change each line manually (which takes some time).

   Wish to see this in Illustrator soon.

5. Choose which version of PDF when saving an Illustrator file as .ai with PDF compatibility.

   When saving an Illustrator file with PDF compatibility, the default version of Acrobat is 5, (PDF Version 1.4) which creates issues with transparencies, when placing that .ai file into another .ai file for layout.
   I would like to be able to choose which version of Acrobat and PDF to be compatible with when saving an .ai file with PDF compatibility.

6. Replace or Delete Swatches should automatically re-color objects with new swatch

   I propose swatches have the function of applying new color to objects on the art board whenever a color needs to be replaced with a different color. Instead of simply deleting the current swatch, we should be prompted to "replace current color with new color?" then select the new color after adding it to the palette, then BAM! all the objects are automatically updated with the new color. (Example: art editor says that we will print only using 2 colors: black text with red headlines. I already have the art set using black and green. I could add the red swatch, then delete the green swatch and have all green headlines changed to red for me.)

7. Direct selection tool

   Can you please put the selection tool back next to the direct selection tool instead of making it a hidden tool. It's very annoying having to pull it out to have both tools.

8. Create new artboard within other artboard with Shift key gone in 2018

   Just switched to Illustrator 2018. In 2017 I could create a new artboard on top of another artboard by holding down the shift key and dragging with the Artboard tool. This doesn't work anymore. I can create a new artboard outside of the existing one, but I need to create multiple artboards within one main artboard. I can create a vector box where I want them all, then go to Artboard window and click Convert to Artboards, but this is many more clicks than before...not very lean.

9. Nest library groups

   Groups are nice to have now in the library but some of us have very large libraries that we're using. Please consider adding the ability to nest library groups for better organization.

10. Collapse library groups by clicking on group titlebar.

    Love that we can now create library groups. However, in order to collapse/expand a group, we can only click on the little arrow. It would be nicer if we could click, or double click on the group title-bar to make collapsing/expanding faster. That arrow is little and takes extra time to make sure you're right on top of it if you want to expand/collapse a group.

    Clicking Library groups’ titles expands and collapses them as expected.

11. Simple Color Swap in entire document by selecting two global swatches

    It would be wonderful if possible to swap global swatches by selecting two swatches and swap them in the entire document. The same way it it already possible to merge them.

    Possible to open .cdr files, this is needed. Because in my country "Indonesia", who people are using corel and some using illustraot. We need this feature!

13. Make (Anchor Points) Pixel Perfect /Snap points to grid

    I appreciate the Make Pixel Perfect command... when it works. It does what one would expect when applied to a simple ellipse, rectangle, or etc, but for many complex shapes it simply fails with "Selected art cannot be made pixel perfect."

    When I attempt Make Pixel Perfect on a more complex shape, I'm looking for one of two things:

    • I want to round the x, y, width and height of the whole path to the nearest whole-pixel values, or
    • I want to round the x and y of every anchor point along the path to the nearest whole-pixel values.

    As it is, I've begun copying paths to Sketch to use its Round Pixel feature, then copying the results back to Illustrator. Sketch's behavior isn't quite ideal either, since it always rounds all points to the nearest whole pixel and that can result in unwanted distortions.

    There's probably two requests here: allow Make Pixel Perfect to round any path to the nearest whole pixels (as a path), and add a secondary command to do the same to every point along the path.

16. シンボル編集モードでのレイヤーオプションの保存がされない

    シンボルを作成後、配置されたシンボルをダブルクリックしてシンボル編集モードにし、レイヤーオプションのカラー（パスを選択したときに表示される色）を変更する。
    シンボル編集モードを一旦終了し、再度編集モードに入ると、変更状態が保存されていない。
    シンボル編集時にパスの選択時のカラーが見にくい場合、編集モードに入るたびにカラーを編集しなければいけない。

17. More details on "an error occurred while processing the appearance of an object".

    When you start doing complicated work with a lot of effects, you start getting the above-mentioned dialogue. It is incredibly unhelpful: which of the several thousand objects in my illustration is causing problems? What layer is the offending object on? Where in the appearance stack did things go awry? Maybe I'd like to find out which object caused this - how about a button to select the offending object, unlocking whatever containing objects may be locked?

    To make an analogy for the programmers: imagine if your compiler just said "some errors happened while compiling your project", and didn't even tell you which file had the offending code, never mind the line number or the type of error you made. Give us poor artists better diagnostics to figure out what the heck's going on, please.

18. Show how many artboards are selected

    Since we can have multiple artboards selected and this selection isn't very noticeable (which should be fixed too), why not to show how many artboards are selected?
    Just say how many in empty 'Name:' field, since it shows nothing when more is one artboard is selected, in brackets or different color.

19. Width tool feature

    Hi

    As you can see from the file the split in the lower right corner is much bigger than the rest. And I was told that that is because AI treats the starting point of an object different. This makes it difficult to make symmetrict shapes without a lot of extra work.

    Therefor I was hoping this was something You could do something about in a future update

20. Eyedropper Tool should pick colors from OpenType-SVG fonts

    When picking a color from either color vector and bitmap OpenType-SVG fonts, the picked color is currently the default underlying text color (often black), not what is actually displayed on screen.
