Shorter toolbar size
Hi, any chance of being able to have an option of a shorter version of the Tools palette. When I have it set to single column using a 15" MacBook this runs off the bottom of the screen. I know I could set it to double column but I like to have a maximum working area. Just a thought…

Discard all Overprints
I work specifically in digital prepress for POP displays, and never use overprinting at all. Removing overprinting from a document can be a hassle as I work with documents that almost always contain a mix of solid objects, linked raster images and other things. I consider myself extremely lucky when I find a document that I can easily remove all overprints from in one go

Reset symbol rotation and scale independently
It would be nice if we had the option to reset symbol transformations independently.
For example, only the scale (keeping the same rotation) or only the rotation (keeping the same scale).

Allow to customize colors for handle controls, anchors, and paths edges (permanently and context-based / on the fly)
It would be helpful if you could make the color of pen tool handles distinguishable from the anchor color, even just a slight difference would be helpful.

After AI crashes, list of Recent Files should be restored as it was BEFORE crash
AI crashes quite often. Every time I relaunch it, I see documents in 'File > Open Recent Files' that I opened long-long ago.
AI seems to save this list only after successful closing, which is RARE.Just make AI store list of recent documents elsewhere every time document is opened and restore it after crash.

Isometric (triangular) grid
Please give us the option to display an isometric grid. Currently you always have to build one from scratch wich can be very tiring ...
Given the fact that isometric drawings have gained quite some popularity and you see them rather often on websites, it would be nice to have better tools to create these graphics, among them a proper grid.
Gravit Designer already has such an option:

Password protect in layers
I am looking for an option in the Adobe Illustrator to have the layers locked with a password. so i can send the source file to the other users only to modify what they have to and not touch my content.

Display the Shape parameters in toolbar regardless of display resolution or monitor size. My 15" MBP does not show H and W 27"iMac does
My 15" Macbook Pro does not show H and W when a shape is selected. My 27" iMac does. There is enough space to show these parameters so why are they a drop down in that size display?
I also work in Windows 10 but its a 27" monitor & they are displayed.1 vote -
Recent Colors, Colors Normalization, Color Auto-Palette
I'd love for 2 new swatches to become available, and a new feature. The first swatch would be "recent colors" and be auto-generated, showing similar colors grouped. It would have the option to auto-merge similar colors together, and also the ability to adjust 1 color and have it change instances of that color in the art. The second swatches would be an auto-generated group called a "palette/scheme" and this would make it easy to copy color for various css code

Align to x-height / Cap height, align to effects' bounds
Hey! Illustrator rocks!! I am a professionnal user and I have to tell you that the software is really awesome!!!
As a graphic designer (specialized in UI) I have to align stuff all the time:
1- I would like to to be able to align the text to x-height inside a box rapidly. ( for instance the words inside a button )
2-It would be nice to be able to align the stuff that has been duplicated with the Transformation... tool

[BUG] xmpMM:DocumentID isn't unique at creation stage
When you create new documents, they all share the same XMP documentID value while you would expect it's unique for every single new document.
Saving the document solves the issue but it means one can't rely on documentID uniqueness while the document isn't saved.
It needs to be unique at the creation stage already.2 votes

Moving as a feature request. We generate an unique value only on file save. When you create a file it inherits all the attributes of the preset it uses. This is the reason you see the same uuid each time you create the document,

Make a default workspace for "Illustration."
The software is called "Illustrator." Seems like there should be an "Illustration" workspace.

Ability to search functions
For example, in rhino I can type all the functions without having to search through the menus with my mouse
2 votesIn latest version of Illustrator you can access Discover panel by hitting F1 or via Help menu.
This new window allows you to search within tools, commands, tutorials, etc. — but no commands form other panels’ menus, or scripts, or actions.

Making a light prezi like presentation mode inside adobe illustrator by defining views and a presentation view panel
Please add a presentation mode functionality, something like prezi or focusky like animations between views inside illustrator itself.
The user should have ability to define views inside art boards. Each view consists of scale, rotations and position like prezi, on every slide change the view changes animatingly between the views.
For now I use Shift + page down and page up to switch between artboards. But not inside an artboard and not with animations. I push f twice and enter full screen and its cool. But there can be a lite presentation mode managed by a small panel, containing views,…2 votes -
Create new Library from document like Photoshop
I have a file that has 124 individually named artboards (each containing 1 icon), and was looking for a faster way to add these icons (with their appropriate names) to a library, rather than having to drag each one from their artboard to the library panel, and then have to rename each one (again). Photoshop offers this capability
