1. SVG code for current document visible in non modal view

   When fine-tuning SVG files, the ergonomics of the workflow are far less than optimal. This is especially problematic because SVG supports only a subset of what is possible in Illustrator.

   A round trip to some other app, or viewing code via the export modal feels awkward and is certainly time-consuming. Worse, it takes me away from the main Illustrator editor where my art is actually visible/editable.

   Can't we have a panel which shows the SVG code 'live', without having to visit the file menu. It need not be an editable code view, but 'pretty printing' and perhaps code folding would be extremely useful! This panel would be kept in sync with the current document (when open). The SVG export settings might be present as controls on the panel, but otherwise it could just use what is set in the Save As... dialog box.

   Tightening this feedback loop would take a lot of the guesswork out of SVG production with Illustrator.

   9-slice scaling, for example, is not supported in SVG - and the only way to find out is to try and fail.

3. Allow Color Coding for windows and tabs

   I appreciate the many ways Adobe has updated the workspace in Illustrator to be as efficient as possible. However, one thing that I constantly find myself running into is the slight frustration of having to click, or read, or hotkey through the different tabs or windows in order to perform a new function or locate a file.

   A project may require many windows in my workspace or I'm working with multiple files I'm having to bounce between.. I'm in a good creative workflow zipping through my project, and then, I find myself having to stop and do a little search for the little tab before I realize I need to scroll down, or it's been stacked with the Swatches, or it collapsed, or I need to go through each file, or whatever it may be to find what I'm looking for. Argh:(

   At this point that flow has stopped and I'm met with slight frustration. It would be great if I could color code the actual tab to find it easier. I feel it would be as easy as seeing something from the corner of your eye and knowing exactly where to go for your next function and it feel intuitive.

   It's something I've been wishing for a lot lately and thought why not write a request. Anyways, I hope there are others who feel this way or find this helpful.

4. Add CSS color styling option to OpenType-SVG specification, so font colors may be altered in Illustrator

   Currently, OpenType-SVG color fonts come with pre-defined colors.

   To provide glyphs in different shades, additional stylistic sets need to be added to the font, bloating it tremendously.

   I propose to add the ability to OpenType-SVG to have certain colors of a glyph being overwritten by the application (e.g. Illustrator), so text colors can be applied to a range of glyphs just like it's done with standard monochrome glyphs.

   To do so, OpenType-SVG should be able to export a set of color reference names, referenced within the glyph's SVG. An application may then assign alternate colors to those color references, so the glyph will render using these colors.

   For example, an OpenType-SVG glyph may look similar to this:

5. "Masking" as a live effect

   I think it would be very useful to have a Mask live effect, so that individual fills/strokes in the appearance panel could be masked. The actual mask could come from a specific layer/group in the current file, imported from a file on your HD, or from a new type of Mask library.

6. How to make home page preview transparent background?

   Hello! I am wondering how to change the preview mode on Illustrator's home page to be transparent instead of white. It just started doing this recently and I can't figure out why. It's nothing much but annoying to me.

8. Sign in concomitantly with different accounts

   Please, Adobe, remember that what you think is your "user" takes many forms. Please, also remember that we are pulled and pushed by all competing platforms that try desperately to create hindrances in the pursuit of their own ecosystem.
   We may need to have two different accounts running on the same computer due to legacy files - programmed obsolescence at it's best, hopefully soon unethical.
   We may need to have two different accounts running on the same computer because of ethical issues (personal professional use vs. company's professional use). Some of us designers / photographers work on location environments, and should not be using precious productive time dealing with an artificially created hindrances on switching accounts + should be able to manage accounts and contents in a segregated and controlled manner.

   Very seldom you've produced quantum leaps worthy of this mess you're creating with unneeded upgrades and ecosystem buildups. Remember a typical user nowadays deals with these competing ecosystems (in my case, MS, Google, Adobe, Autodesk) daily.

9. PLEASE add back in the ability to copy simple shapes that contain gradients from Illustrator to InDesign.

   Copying simple shapes with simple gradients (not even complex gradient mesh) from Illustrator to InDesign has been a feature for as long as I've been using Adobe products and now, suddenly, in the 2026 versions, it's gone. Every time I try I get the error dialog attached. This is the most basic of functions and I don't understand why it's gone. I just got off the phone with Adobe Support who said "it's no longer supported". What? Why? Their solution was to save Illustrator objects as files and import/place them into InDesign, but that's not an ideal solution as those shape are no longer editable in InDesign. They're just static imports. Isn't the entire point of the Creative Cloud suite that things all just work together? Why is Adobe taking features and functionality away that users have used literally for decades (while continually increasing the monthly price, of course)? Please put this back as soon as possible. Thanks.

10. When saving or exporting choose the file type / extension automatically based on the one typed with the file name

    Since 90% of the time, you need to rename or edit a title. It would be a time saver if you could name as well select the correct format directly from the "save as" selection name field. ex: You type image1.png, Then the "format" would automatically change itself to the correct "PNG" format (so you don't need to do that as well). Of course, this would be on all.

12. Automatically incorporate the .jpeg .png name into the artboard name

    When working with multiple assets (png's and jpegs) and wish to import them in a document for various purposes: resize, remake them as vector for "overwrite" purpose it would be really helpful to:

    When importing a .jpeg or a .png file into a document, by clicking on the .png or .jpeg with the arboard tool, instead of creating a generic name, the artboard tool should "take" the name of the file automatically.

    When working with hundreds of small assets, it is very painful having to rename every single file in order to batch export them.

    Very helpful in, mobile, web games or app development.

13. Workspace layout seems to constantly change over time. Keep it more fluent and natural

    I can arrange workspaces, rearrange them, add new ones, remove some and so on and on and on. My issue is that somehow, the tools and panels I want are never at hand when I need them.

    It's so subtle that I can't put my finger on the exact issue. But it's suddenly occurred to me that as far as I can remember, I'm always rearranging the workspace layout in Illustrator to get the tools I need, but I don't have this issue in other Adobe apps. I've been using Illustrator as my core graphic design tool for around 8/9 years.

    This has slowly been dawning on me. I think there's a lot of things going on here.

    • Issue: For Premiere Pro I can sync workspaces to my account. I presumed this is standard behaviour for all Adobe apps. However I have always used the same account and I have several times over the years set up custom workspaces in Illy. But I've just looked now and I can't see any - I don't know when they disappeared or why but it's happened.

    • Solution: synchronise workspaces to my Adobe account. Keep them there regardless of Illustrator version. Sync to all computers using my account.

    • Issue: Popups. In more recent years, I seem to get popups appear about once a week about something that I'm not at all interested in, usually some irrelvant new feature. I open Illustrator to work, not to play around with the latest features.

    • Solution: please get rid of these popups and tutorials unless I ask for them. The things I do in Illy, I know how to do. If I don't know a feature, I probably don't use it.

    • Issue: Sometimes the workspace opens on the same one as last time when I open Illustrator. Sometimes it doesn't. Not sure what the expected behaviour is here, but usually it seems to open on "Essentials". Every time, I switch to "Essentials Classic" and then add any other panels I need. Unless I have a custom workspace that hasn't disappeared yet.

    • Solution: every time I open Illustrator, switch to the last workspace I was using.

    • Issue: Over time as UI design changes, the workspaces change too. I get it, you add more features, you play around with the default workspaces. But please don't make it affect me.

    • Solution: Add more features if you like but don't push them out to my workspaces unless I want them. Ask me if I want to switch / update workspaces.

    • Issue: Workspaces always seem to be resetting and panels I add to my workspace disappear next time I open Illy.

    • Solution: Auto save changes to workspaces as they're made. Even default workspaces, just save the changes.

    That's just a few things that are obvious to me. But the whole workspace just seems to fluctuate often, and I just want to get the tools up that I use and keep them handy instead of rebuilding my workspace every time I open Illustrator.

15. Scale Obect or group of objects base on two reference points (similar as in CAD)

    This is useful when you need to exactly match the scale of two objects or especially group of objects. Say you have changed the scale in one file but have received a new file from a client that is in the original scale. You want to quickly match the scale change. If you have at least one reference line that hasn't changed, you can pick two reference points on the new object(s) and then the two matching points on the scaled file. This matches the the scale exactly. This can also be used in many other ways.

16. When sharing a file for a client to add comments. Add a button for when they are done adding comments.

    When sharing a file for a client to add comments. It would be good for a button to be added saying "done" or "finished". At the moment, we get notified for every comment, and I don't know when the client has finished adding all their comments. It would be good to get a notification of when they have finished.

17. Copying a layer in a multi-layer file does not put anything on the clipboard for SVG

    Select the top layer in a multi-layer file
    Copy it to the clipboard
    Use a clipboard viewer to display the "Scalable Vector Graphics" format

    Expected Result: Well-formed SVG content to be on the clipboard.
    Actual Result: The clipboard has no data for the format, even thought it advertises it as being available.

    I am a Microsoft engineer reporting this on behalf of a customer who is attempting to paste a layer from Illustrator into PowerPoint as SVG.

20. Variable font substitution (with different number of axis)

    I get a crash when: Having a 3-axis variable font used in a document, I close the file and delete the font from my system . Then I open the file and try to substitute that missing font by another with a different number of axis. Boom.

    I guess the perfect behaviour here would be to ignore the extra axis or use a neutral value for axis added after substitution.
