Illustrator is not exporting with the current file name
- Create a document
- Draw a rectangle (just for it to have something inside)
- Save it anywhere as '1.ai'
- Export a, say, TIF, with default settings (these don't really matter) — Ai will offer '1.tif' name for the file exported
- Save this document as '2.ai'
- Export another TIF — Ail will use '1.tif' name, although the file is now '2.ai' This is wrong. Ai should adapt the name from the file actual name and not the original one.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.3.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

commentedNew issue in recent update: 25.4.1 When exporting a file as an image (JPG, PNG etc.), and while in the first dialogue window, if you select JPG (or other file type) BEFORE selecting your path/folder, the file name picks up/swaps to the folder name. BUT, if you choose your file path/folder first, and then file type (JPG, PNG, etc.) it works fine. Huge time suck.

commentedIf you have an illustrator file open and resave it with a new name - when you then export that file as a PNG it keeps the name that you previously used - not the new saved name. When exporting I have to manually change the name to be the new name I have just given the file. Very annoying when you have to create numerous files off of one original document which you need to keep exporting as a PNG. Even more annoying is when you have exported the file and it is saving over the previous one you created because it has the previous name.

 commentedOperating System: Windows 10
 Adobe Illustrator: v25.0
I have a file open, I 'save as', and rename the file.
I alter the file and when I export it as a jpg, normally the jpg name is the new file name.
Instead, the name is the previous file name before 'save as'.
I have accidently saved over many exported files.

commentedI have the same issue. It happened with the new Illustrator update. I have been exerting a lot of files in March-May and it worked fine before. Now, instead of picking up on the current file name it's trying to export with the previously used file name.

commentedSame problem. very dangerous bug if working with business cards for example. changing name and phone on a template and saving every business card with the same name can lead to very poor results

commentedI really hope that this is not an intentional behavior. Please fix this. It's frustrating.

commentedThis bug/feature is a real nuisance and definitely disrupts my workflow. Everyone I've mentioned it to says they can also reproduce it, so it's not just a small number of users. Pixeleiderdown

commentedI am using windows 10 and 2020 version of illustrator.
When I export a file as a jpeg the jpeg file name doesn't always match the current file name. Instead illustrator is remembering previous file names and overwriting the jpeg with that name instead of the name of the pdf file I'm exporting from. It sometimes reverts to a file name that's 5 or 6 times back in my history of saved file names. EG if I have a file named File 01.pdf and I have Files 2-6 also saved as pdf files and I've exported them all as jpegs I will have only 1 jpeg which is called File 01.jpg but it will be File 06 that has been exported with the incorrect name and saved over the top of File 01.

commentedI've been having a huge trouble with this too. Don't know if this is a feature or a bug, but it's infuriating! Sometimes I need to fix something in my files and I like to always overwrite the pdf copy file I saved before, so I don't have to worry about looking around for it in the folder. I just save and it'll ask me to overwrite... but now I need to scan where the file is so I have to click on it to make it overwrite, so that in the end I don't end up with a file like this "filename copy copy copy copy copy copy.pdf" haha If this is intentional behavior, it'd be nice for Adobe to let us choose if we want it that way.

commentedWhen I export in the latest version, the file name reverts back to an older file name and tries to save it in the previous location. I need it to export as the same name as the .ai file and in the same location as the current .ai file. I've never had this issue in any older versions of illustrator.

commentedSince the last update I noticed that AI is keeping in memory the last file name given in save a copy.
i.e. My document is called thing.ai. I save a copy "thing copy.ai" then when I save a copy again from the master document still open it will save as "thing copy copy.ai". Even if I give a custom name to the copy as "thing outlined.ai", the next save a copy will be "thing outlined copy.ai".

Please note that I never changed the name of the master document.

Anonymous commented Yes! I need to export several formats from a completed project and with the name not going back to the original file in use is horribly frustrating. Please correct this!
