Paste occasionally does not put the pasted art in the center of the view (artboard), even after Fit Artboard in Window
I'm about as expert an illustrator user can get — for years I've used FIT ARTBOARD (Command-0) as a way to cut/paste pixel perfectly centered artwork. The latest AI version 2017 is off - I realize align to artboard is the intended feature to attain this effect, however that way somewhat stinks because you can't make into a hotkey. Why doesn't Command-0 no longer perfectly center my artboard?
(NOTE: the off-centered-ness varies from .1 to .01 inches - so very small -- but significant if you're doing engineering grade designs) -- thank you.
This was marked as fixed in 2019, but there were several reports about this still happening after 2022.
Please vote and comment if this is something you occasionally experience still.

Can’t reproduce, really.
If you press Cmd/Ctrl+0 before pressing Cmd/Ctrl+V, to fit artboard in window, it works as it should, quite precise.
Remember, the Paste command does not paste in the middle of the current artboard, it pastes in the middle of the view. -

In the newest version of Illustrator (30.0 - Mac OS Sonoma 14.8.1) you can no longer paste objects to center them. This used to be an easy way to cut something from a file, then paste it in dead-center.... it's now pastes in off-set from center and you have to manually align it using the Align panel — and yes, my preference is set to Align to the Artboard...
This works in the newest release of Photoshop but not Illustrator.
Please see the snapshot of some text I pasted in — you can see its not dead-center....

Um... This is still broken now that I'm in Version 27.7. What happened to the old reliable Command + 0 then paste to art board function???

Dear Adobe, please fix this... why does this continue to be a problem. Paste to center of art board after using command + zero worked for 20+ years. Why does this keep breaking with each update? And some past updates it has simply never been fixed.

What version would you revert to that would even still function?? The copy paste "center to artboard" shortcut command has not worked in at least the last 5-7 years!!! I wish I could call adobe and have them fix this. Driving me nuts for far too long.

Lord help us all! LOL I just updated this week and I'm HATING the newest version. This is one of the reasons why and I am seriously contemplating going back to my previous version because the copy and paste will not center on my artboard. Sooooo frustrating!!!

Illustrator 23.0.2 does not paste into the center of the artboard, despite having already centered the artboard in the window.

Yes Adobe, please fix this back to the way it was — so critical for logo design and working quickly! Why do critical functions like this get lost when updating software??
