Duplicate and align with Option and Shift doesn't function in Illustrator 2018
I used to be able to duplicate an object by selecting it, push the Option button and drag the object. That still functions. BUT ... during dragging a duplicate I also pressed the Shift button to align the duplicate with the original. And that doesn't function anymore. When I now press the Shift button while dragging, the object aligns but doesn't duplicate. So pressing the Shift deactivates the option.
Please get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.

@franka, I wonder if it works any better in latest builds of Ai?
If it does not — can you share the specs of the machine you are using? -

Hope its clear now.
