Nope, none of those help me much.
Illustrator lets me open recent files or any other document but every time I try creating a new one it stays like this as if it was loading but nothing's moving. None of the buttons change the situation either. I can only switch between blanc windows or exit.

Tina, some questions.
1. Does it help to erase A4 form the search field at the bottom?
2. Does it help to switch form Recent section at the top to Print? Does that section have anything in it?
3. As a workaround — does it help to open Preferences and toggle 'Use legacy "File New" interface' option and then try to create a new document again?

It crashed once and since then it won't let me create new files (even after reinstall)

Jo, try these two things:
1. Go to Preferences, General, and Enable 'Use legacy "File New" interface' option. Ai then should use a simpler dialog.
2. If it works, then try to locate the 'CCX Welcome' folder. It should be located somewhere here: 'C:\Users\<YOUR NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CCX Welcome' (Mac users should have it at '/Users/<YOUR NAME>/Library/Caches/Adobe/CCX Welcome'). Delete it. The OS might not give it away that easily, so you’d have to quit Illustrator AND Adobe Creative Cloud App. In my case I had to use an external unlocking app to do that (I used LockHunter).
Then, when you relaunch Ai, it will rebuild the files anew and some modern UI panels/modes like Home, Properties, and the modern File New might start working.

I uninstall the app then install again, same error.

New file window pops up but dont respond to when i press enter anymore. Idont use legacy. Everything else is normal. Its just the window does not react to when i press enter.

Atle, but what happens when you do that?
Ctrl+N should pop a File New dialog — does it appear? Do you use the modern one or the legacy one? Does it help to toggle it (in Preferences > General: Use Legacy "File New" Interface)?
Are you able to see the home screen when no file is opened?
Which version are you using?
Please tell more.

My daily function to create new file by pressing ctrl-n Enter is not working anymore

I wonder if enabling 'Use Legacy File New interface' in Preferences > General helps.
Also, please check if hitting Ctrl/Cmd + Alt +N works to instantly create a new document with no dialog shown, and if assigning a custom hotkey for the 'File > New' in Edit > Keyboards Shortcuts allows then to call it (to see if there is a problem with the modern dialog itself, or just its hotkey).

How did you resolve the issue?

Have you tried to use the "Create New" button on the left when you open Illustrator?

Illustrator v 25.0 desktop on PC won't let me create new files from scratch or with preset details. It's forcing me to download templates to work from.

Illustrator v 25.0 desktop on iMac works fine.

I need to open an existing and save as. It only is letting me download pre-saved templates. C'mon - that's not a bug - that's a fatality. And even if I'm reading the popup wrong, why make it so difficult? Switching over to Sketch...

AI will not create file / new. Will not create a new file, will only open existing files. As well on my system.

When you click 'new...' to start a new file... nothing happens. The window should pop up.
