Masking in Illustrator not Working
The masking isn't behaving as normal in illustrator CC. I'm not sure if something is amiss on my end, but my standard workflow isn't giving me the results I'm expecting.
Please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience. Please get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.
Thanks & Regards,

@Agape, this is not a 'clipping' mask, it’s and 'opacity' mask...
But true, this is a bug, and it has been fixed just recently: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/42412372
Version 28.2.0 should have it fixed — please try it and reply if it works for you. -

I used to be able to place a photo into an Illustrator artboard... then in order to round the corners, I would create a rounded rectangle, fill with white, then put it on top of the photo, select both and then create a clipping mask.
right now, when I select MAKE MASK, the whole image disappears..
you can see in my attached images that if I INVERT the mask, it seems to do what it is supposed to do ...just shows the inverted rounded corners...... but when deselect INVERT, then the image disappears.
