Constrain (shift key) doesn't work with Smart Guides turned on
When smart guides are on none of the constrain features (holding down shift) work properly, whether it's rotating, reflecting, etc. It just sort of jumps back to one position, often the original position, and won't move. The little magenta text that lets you know the angle etc. also goes a little crazy and looks like it's trying to display a few different words on top of each other.
Even though this issue was resolved previously, the problem is back. If you do have it now — please upvote this newer report, so the team can evaluate the problem’s severity.
The more votes it gets, the faster we’ll get it fixed once and for all. Thanks!

When I select and object and try to move it with [Shift] Held down to constraint it then it keeps snapping back to start position. I believe this is a conflict with smart guides. It has been like this for a few years now, it's super annoying can you fix it please. Thanks

In Illustrator 25.0 and 25.1, The Scale and Reflect tools do not work properly with the Shift key held down and smart guides on. Here is a video of the bug: https://youtu.be/lsAqOUvLTmE
I'm using macOS 10.14.6.

Ever since the release of Illustrator 24.2, dragging objects with the Shift key held down (to constrain it to increments of 45° relative to its origin position) causes the object to constantly snap to itself. The issue had been reported here:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/40687171-dragging-objects-with-shift-key-hold-down-brokenWith the release of 24.2.3, this behavior was fixed for whole objects, but not for individual anchor points. Those still snap to themselves in today's 25.0 release.
The bug does not occur when you untick "Transform tools" under Preferences > Smart guides.
I have attached a video of the issue in the 25.0 release of Illustrator, recorded on Windows 10.
What's worse, I can't even roll back to version 24.1.3, where the bug did not occur. The oldest version available now is 24.3.
Please work on fixing this bug (Adobe has acknowledged back in June), as it greatly hinders my workflow when creating technical illustrations. Until then, please make version 24.1.3 available again.

Shift-dragging individual anchor points is still broken in today's 25.0 release, see the attached video.
What's worse, now I can't even roll back to 24.1.3 where it still worked. The CC desktop app only offers me 25.0 and 24.3.

I also have this, and several other issues since "upgrading" the other day. These problems are making my work go PAINFULLY SLOW. Please figure it out and let me know ASAP! Thanks!

When dragging using the shift key with smart guides enabled, the selected point will snap back to it's origin, with the word "origin" appearing. Previously the shift key could be selected before the point was dragged, now in order for the error to be avoided, the point must be moved and then the shift key selected. Screenshot of error attached and also system info.

Can confirm that dragging whole objects is fixed in 24.2.3, but not individual anchor points. Rolling back to 24.1.3 again...

The issue seems resolved when dragging whole objects, but not when dragging single points.

Still not fixed in 24.2.3... hope it gets fixed soon

This is a known bug and it is presumably fixed in one of prerelease builds. You can join the program and update your Illustrator if it bothers you strong enough.

When I hold down shift to click and drag or when I hold shift+option and drag to copy, the object gets stuck. I have to take my finger off the shift key to move the object in place requiring an extra step to align.

I use this ALL OF THE TIME and it's a major pain in the a$$ that the latest version of Ai has broken this function. Every update to Illustrator is counterproductive these days. The answer always seems to be to turn off a function/preference rather than fixing the core of the problem. Stop breaking Illustrator Adobe.
