Switching between tabs doesn't update the view
See the attached video. I have two files open. The second file I opened does not display. When I click on the file tab I still have the previous file displayed. Regardless of which file is active, I can only edit one. I can't even see the other. They are two completely different projects - they do not look the same. You are only seeing one file in this video, despite which one I select. I have to quite and restart, losing any changes I may have in the one file I cannot see.

Egor Chistyakov, GPU preview was turned off. I turned it on and so far this bug hasn't appeared. I don't know how this happens :D
Thanks! -
Kenan, does it help if you switch GPU preview off?

It’is absolutely impossible to work on Illustrator 2020. I have version 24.2, and there constantly switching tabs doesn’t work correctly. No matter what tab I've selected, I can only see 1 file. This happens randomly, and I have to restart the program to get the tabs to work properly again.
By the way, this is also observed in Photoshop 2020.
This bug is at least one year old. I don’t know how to fix it.
P.S. These screenshots are not mine (I don’t know how to cause this bug). But I have exactly the same situation

Illustrator 24.2 doesn't display the proper/selected file. For example, if I have file A open, and I open file B, it will either show as blank or will display file A. When I detach file B from the tab bar, file B displays correctly. When I reattach file B to the tab bar it is either blank or displays file A again, even though file B (0r C or D, etc.) is selected.
These files all displayed and functioned properly before upgrading.
Attached are my basic computer specs.

the preview or where you work does not show rather it simply shows the previous page and does not change

Same issue here. This happens in both Illustrator and Photoshop.
The issue is normally rectified by restarting which is a pain do when in happens multiple times every day.
Something that this video does not show is that it happens not just to the document tabs but to all the tools palettes, too.

I frequently have this same issue. Multiple tabs will display as a certain file opened. The only fix I have found is entirely quitting Illustrator and re-opening, which is very frustrating when I am working with many files, especially if I am mid-way through editing them.
Sometimes Illustrator does this when I first open the files, but sometimes does this after I have had some files open for awhile, and try to open another file.

I get into this problem every day for quite some time (I think since the first version AI 24) The latest updates did not fix this. Workaround it is to pull document tabs to separate floating windows or restart AI.

I too am having this issue, the only way to continue is to quit out and relaunch ai. It has started happening since I updated to Catalina and ai 24.0.3
I use no 3rd party plug ins, mainly use ai and ps.
This problem is starting to swallow up large amounts of my day when trying to switch between projects, so a solution would be awesome. -

I've got this problem too. Fixes when I quit and restart. But that reeeeallly sucks when I'm working on 10 different projects simultaneously for multiple clients haha

When having multiple tabs open, Illustrator will not show the other art when switching to a different tab. Ex. Document 1 and Document 2 are open and I have been working in Document 1 for a while. When switching to Document 2 tab, the art for Document 1 still shows and does not switch to the other tab. I can pull Document 2 tab off into it's own window and it will show, but once placing it back into the interface, it goes back to only showing Document 1. This happens multiple times a day and is causing me to restart every time it happens.

The same thing is happening to me. It works sometimes, and other times it doesn't work. There's no sure way to get it to work.

Also having this issue in Photoshop and Illustrator. It's been happening for quite a long time -- even between completely reinstalling MacOS on a new computer, between Macos Mojave and Catalina, and Between Adobe CC 2019 and now 2020.
If you take the window out of the tab you can see it, but otherwise it's either blank or the window content doesn't change. This also happens with other tabbed windos and pallettes as well -- same behavior, if you undock it you can see it, but dock it up and it's blank. I'm kind of tired of this..

I've been having the same problem. I was hoping the 2020 update would fix it but it hasn't. Same problem as mentioned by others. Multiple files open as tabs and upon opening another file the file that was showing is still shown even though the file just opened does show as a tab and that it is selected. I do run multiple monitors on a MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012. My Illustrator version is 24.0.

I have been having this same issue in Illustrator and it's unfortunately getting worse even after restarting Illustrator and my computer multiple times. Very frustrating having the workflow interrupted!!
Not sure what to do to fix it-have you found a solution at all?
