Page orientation incorrect in new document panel
Opening a new document and trying to make it 17"w x 11"h, the document opens at 11"w x 17"h.
v25.1
The issue is no longer reproducible in later versions of Illustrator. Please comment back if it still does happen for you.

I am getting this too, but I actually think it applies mostly to documents in one of the preset sizes - A4, letter, etc.

I use the legacy "File New" interface. In Illustrator 25.2.3, when you specify a page width of 8.5" and a page height of 11", Illustrator automatically selects the Landscape orientation button instead of Portrait like it should. And if you select a page width of 11" and a page height of 8.5", Illustrator selects the Portrait orientation button instead of Landscape like it should.
I can always press the correct button before I hit OK, but I shouldn't have to.

When entering Width and Height manually (entering numbers in the fields) Ai chooses the wrong orientation. E.g. w 1920 and h 1080 gives a portrait document with dimensions w 1080 and h 1920.
(the icon shows that Ai interprets the given numners wrongly - see screenshot)
Please repair.

This is supremely annoying. When creating a new document, and manually setting the width and height to a "landscape" proportion (ie. 1920x1080), Illustrator's default Orientation setting (portrait) automatically overrides these manually entered numbers, and I end up with a portrait oriented document that I did not want.
This has never been an issue in previous versions prior to CC 2021.

When entering sizes manually, Ai always orients the new document portrait, even when the width is larger than the height.

Hi,
Thank for reporting the issue.
Apologies for delayed response. We are able to reproduce the issue at our end and are working on a fix. Thanks,

Same here:
1. Enable 'legacy' File New dialogue
2. Create landscape oriented A4 file
3. Close the file
4. Launch File New again — now it has landscape orientation, width 297mm and height 210mm, like it is shown in the GIF at first
5. Set 210 for the width, Tab, set 297 for the height, TabWhat Illustrator used to do, just a version ago, is to switch to portrait mode as soon as you entered 210 in the width...
Illustrator 25.2 doesn’t do it. This leads to creating a landscape document when I obviously mean to create a portrait one.
